Speculation, Speculation, Speculation. It means nothing. We should all save our breaths we're going to need them when we're 75 (all due respect Bridgeport and Albert).
The only facts are we don't know all the facts. I have been as critical as anyone about Syd's game coaching and overall demeanor with the fans and media but you gotta give him a break on this one.
I am certain he is doing what he thinks is right for the team. I do not believe this is a scholarship move. As JS stated, that's a discussion easily scheduled for post season and no need to take action now.
He has what he believes are valid reasons for whatever this action is. He wants to win like everyone else, but I believe a college basketball coach has a responsibility to develop young men for life.
Gossip makes for wonderful discussions on blogs and twitter. We just don't know, we may never know and that's ok. Some things should be between a coach, his team, and a player's family.
"Speculation Speculation, Speculation. It Means Nothing. We should all save our breaths, we're going to need them when we're 75." Thank you Paulie for having the most sensible comment on this subject! And that's precisely what I will do here, because in reality I DON'T KNOW all the facts.
It should be kept quite until the school and coaches decides to send out a twitter on these kids which is not true..about them(( mutually ))agreeing to take time off. When it wasnt true. ..

I hate to post with information that is no where near verified. But it sounds as though most, if not all of the posts in this thread are speculative. So, anyway, I heard today from a reporter who covers the Stags occasionally who spoke with a reporter that covers them often, that these two players "want no part of the team". They are still taking classes, but are not interested in returning to the program. A direct contradiction to what some on this board believe to be the case. I offer this not as a verified fact, but to suggest thatn apparently, none of us has the hard facts. Unless someone does and is not willing to say so.
I think it's likely the scholarship/recruiting situation plays a part in this.
We've all done the math and know it doesn't add up. Maybe the players have been approached about getting help securing a transfer. Maybe they don't feel they have been given enough of a shot. Understandably, or not, they might be pouting. And... if it's something like that - I'd suggest part of the issue is they really like the school.
Of course... this is all speculation. Maybe they just got caught goofing around during video sessions. They do those, right?
Hey disco.. That couldnt be further from the truth. Both...davis and grennan definitly want backin and teammates have gone to coach to ask for it to happen...Both...

5-19 The coach is the one who needs a break to refocus. When you're being paid and your coaching Division I you need to coach you need to earn your keep every year no excuses. You also need to be an amazing motivator you need to understand some players need to be lifted up not torn down people don't respond to negativity anymore I mean players. As the coach you're supposed to set the example you're supposed to show them how to be a man you're supposed to leave them. You have to get the most out of every player on your roster every player makes every other player better if they haven't done anything wrong why are they away from the team. Those two boys are dying right now all they want to do is play Division I basketball and you're stealing it from them!

jwest, I really hope that you are right, and my friend is wrong. He really seemed convinced that they wanted off tyhe team. How do you know they want to stay on?
Stop ..enough..davis and grennan remain loyal to the team..the have been through plenty .the twitter went out last week to the home paper of grennans area.there was no mutual agreement of being removed.for either playerthey were just as surprised
The focus and commitment period that was told to us .was actually a season ending Statement..the players are embaressed and humiliated.but you would not know that. Hopefully more will learn about this. And understand how wrong this was. But they remain in good standings with school .and have not broken any team rules.they await to start playing again And the players on the team support them.
jwest - the part of the story you aren't telling is the real "why." It may be that whatever the reason, it seems minor compared to the punishment... but I think even the most anti-SJ poster on this board would probably agree that it sounds pretty unlikely SJ and his staff got together and decided a cool thing to do would be to just suspend 2 guys for the rest of the season, for no reason.
