stagophile turner did not respect Han, the senior, the captain. and yes, where you go in life as a man, and what you make of your life is what really counts, to most people. amen to this topic.
However, I'd say he's close to as promising a player as Marcus was his freshman year. If he takes reasonable steps forward in the coming years, he can become good/great.
The Han-Turner issue is not the issue here...... However, It was the straw that broke the camels back. Han played with an attitude and an edge. He also treated some teammates the same way. That was his issue, and it really was not addressed. Grennan and Davis issue is on commitment. I hope they do not make the same mistake that Han made. They need to accept responsibility and get themselves back at practice and the games
Hey joe .davis grennan for your info didnt do any thing to their teamates. or break rules or have grade problems. The team is solid behind them both coming back to the team..you seem to keep pushing for an,aplogy like they did something wrong .they are young men who dont understand..other than the obvious Room for next yr players. Keep it real. Its a wrong.fairfield is better than this Isnt it ?

I am sure that all of Grennans and Davis's teammates want them on the team. Why would they not. But normally when players are removed from the team, and comeback, they apologize. Are you saying they have been totally committed?
I'm sure that all involved are frustrated with how things are working out this year. I'm sure both the players and coaches have some sort of attitude - everybody does. What I don't like about the situation is that its now quasi public. SJ should know better that letting anything like this out. He was under a coach in John Thompson III whose father was legendary for not airing out dirty laundry. Other coaches are going to use this against him. To me, SJ is coming across a know it all, ivy educated prick who can't relate to players.
Never understood this obsession with Han. He was a good player. He pissed off his coach and suffered the consequences. People, he is ancient history. Fast Forward: It looks like SJ is trying to run these two players off, which I find reprehensible.

Bingo. Then we have those wanting these kids to apologize? Sydney is the only one that owes anyone an apology and that should be to the entire University. He is exposed with this situation and if it's true he should be run off...

At this point nobody really knows who should be giving any apology to whom because all the facts have not been made known but at the very least SJ seems to have handled all of this badly in the press by making his team issue, as ghostman said, "quasi public".
Every one of our players would seem to be capable of contributing in some way. You would think the coaching staff would be meshing these talents for some synergy, or working with players to work on weaknesses . It's the plays that are missing.
If kids are unhappy, then I understand them wanting to leave and maybe having an "attitude" issue.
What would be best now is for SJ to understand what each player can contribute and run plays to take advantage of each player's strength to give them confidence.
Even though the emerging soap opera is his own fault ultimately, he needs to handle it with class and fairness. He needs to resolve it in a way that does not put more negative perceptions on the program.
Way too late ..you put a press release out thats wrong ..and the playes dont even know it. Its NOT a mutual agreement. Both players are humiliated. How would you feel.? And both players want to stay.!! Go figure..

I do not know exactly what the specific issues are, but Sydney has mentioned on multiple occassions its about Committment and Focus..... and it is about basketball. I agree that players need to work on their weaknesses. But it is a competive situation for all players, and its obvious where they stand in the eyes of the Head coach.
But what is clear, is that Sydney is looking for Grennan and Davis to change and improve, and players have a choice of Agreeing/changing or Dis-agreeing/not changing. I Hope they agree to change to what is expected of them.
IMO, since this was not a rash decision, that they are likely in a position that they need to play their way back onto this team. They have to realize that they are at the bottom of the depth chart, and they are on a team that is looking to upgrade their talent level for next year.
jwest, I am not aware that any press release went out on this??

I'm probably wrong again but I've gotten the impression that Davis and Grennan aren't even practicing with the team.
So how do you play your way back onto a team that you've "mutually" agreed to leave to demonstrate you're refocusing your commitment to the team's goals if you're not allowed to practice with them?

Good question, but I see 3 steps:
1. The players first have to verbally agree/accept that they needed to change to be more committed 2. Then they will be allowed back in practice 3. They they have to physically show in practice and after practice that they are committed
There would not make any more happier than to see Lincoln Davis flying down court for a dunk. And Grennan sticking one of his pull-up jumpers.
