Terence Smith from Tennessee Martin is listed as having a hometown of Russellville, Alabama. I would think the odds are much higher of us being able to attract an immediately eligible transfer from the tristate area than from someone who grew up in Alabama and went to college in Tennessee.
Well we have Segura coming from Houston, right? It's the connections of the staff that sometimes makes the big difference no matter where someone is from. First time I have been aware of this kid and what he is done. On paper he looks real good, although I will say that UT Martin has been traditionally a very poor program with this past year being no exception. However in this case it looks like the defense of the Skyhawks was mostly to blame. They could score fairly easily and it looks like Smith was their leader.

I don't like to play at Duke, but if it helps to get a Mike Kirkland, like it seemed it did, then it might be worth it. Especially, if we get 3 home games at WBA.
Hey, you come up on clam jam weekend. You workout with the team. Tour the campus on a nice weekend. Meet the coaches with your Dad and hear about playing at Cameron Indoor on ESPN. You're not worrying about getting blown out, just thinking this is a long way from Eastern Florida. Life is good.
His Dad also tweeted this:
Great weekend spent with Coach Sydney Johnson, Coach Bahar and Newsome of Fairfield U. Great host, great guys...Go Stags

Vermont lost at Duke 91-90 last season -- so are you saying in Sydney's 4th season, we won't be anywhere near as good as an America East team?

Exactly. Folks it's only one game. You play, you compete, you go home and you learn. And indeed it certainly can help in recruiting. Plus the extra home games are important to a team that will need to get some wins early in the season to build confidence.

A one game with is Duke not negative and who knows, could be a major upset or even close game. It happens. It's a problem, if you put multiple games like this on the schedule.
What we should be concerned about are three losses to St. Peters, and losses to Monmouth and other games we should be winning.
The Stags' 14 point loss to nationally ranked Louisville was not a problem last November but the early season losses to Hartford, Loyola and Holy Cross were.

I would rather play teams in an up-conference that we can beat, and did beat .... like St Joes, Arizona State, St Johns (A-10, Big East, Pac-10). Or play UCONN, a team we almost beat, and will be on somewhat of a down year, rather than play Duke on an up-year. But I do see the recruiting benefits of playing Duke, along with getting 3 home games.
Louisiana Tech is one of the teams hosting a CvC sub-regional. Only one other site will host a sub-regional. Looks like if it isn't us, there is a chance we play a few games in Ruston,LA.
