CT Post story on Enoch. We were there early with him, but Big schools showing a lot of interest now. Nice kudos to Bahar and Sydney. We could use a big man for the 2015 recruiting class, because in 2016 we lose 5 frontcourt players
In Long Beach, the nation found out what Fairfield and SHU already knew -- Steve Enoch is a major talent. He scores from inside and out. He has soft hands, good footwork and can run the floor. Plus, he's willing to work hard to keep improving. "Give credit to (Fairfield assistant) Martin Bahar and (head coach) Sydney Johnson," Norwalk basketball coach Tom Keyes said. "They saw him at one of their elite camps (last summer) and right away they loved him." Sacred Heart's Anthony Latina was the first to offer a scholarship before things took a dramatic turn for the 16-year-old forward, who lives with his mom in Norwalk. Enoch's father also lives in the area and is active in his life.

In line with meteoric rise of Enoch in recruiting circles this summer I believe I have read where Enoch now will not be returning to Norwalk H.S. this coming year, but rather will be transferring to St. Thomas More Prep. Certainly a good move for him I would say (best comp possible plus more academic intensity), but from a local standpoint (access to seeing him play) I am personally disappointed. But just the thought of where he is right now compared to this time last year is mind boggling. In line with this I would think that both his AAU coach George Matthews and his high school coach Tom Keyes should get a lot of credit for his developement. It was surprising however that Norwalk was only a 500 team considering not only having Enoch, but also having another recruited D-1 player on their team in Roy Kane Jr. They were weak with guards however so obviously that was a big reason. But if Enoch had returned I would have thought that the Bears would have been potential league and state contenders.
Just because Enoch is going to St Thomas More, that does not rule us out. I have heard that we are still involved along with a bunch of High Majors. He would be a perfect fit, as we would be needing a big man for 2015 that can be an immediate impact player in 2015-16.
Suddenly Enoch, 6 feet 9 and about 220 pounds, was in the top 100 and rising toward the top 50 among 2015 recruits and began drawing interest from major basketball programs — including the national champions from his home state. He visited UConn, unofficially, in late June, and the coaching staff watched him play in various tournaments during the critical July open period. An official visit is planned for mid-September.
Always an energetic recruiter, Kevin Ollie is now armed with the credibility that comes with winning an NCAA championship in his second season as head coach, with drawing interest from NBA teams and with signing a long-term contract as he pursues top-50 talent.
Ollie watched Enoch, who is headed to St. Thomas More prep school next season, at the Reebok Breakout Classic in Philadelphia, and as often seems to be the case, a good impression was made.
"He was in the NBA for a really long time," Enoch said. "He was a really good player, and he knows about basketball. He's a good coach, a great coach."
Enoch has been slowed by a groin injury — he could not play at the NBPA Top 100 camp in Virginia — but he was one of several players the Huskies' coaches have been recruiting to come to New York for Big Strick, a showcase played at Kemba Walker's old AAU haunt, the Gauchos Gym, a couple of blocks from Yankee Stadium......
Enoch, who has been growing in size and improving his stamina, could fill one of those needs, but he is being recruited by a dozen or so major schools, including Boston College, Memphis, Oregon and Providence. "I have a bunch of schools I'm focusing on now," he said.

Enoch, who received an offer for UConn back in June, said at last month's Big Strick Classic in the Bronx that he could make a decision on college as early as this month. Just goes to show you how hard it is for Fairfield (and many similar programs) to really get a possible stud player. All the hard advance work, the early recognition, the constant connecting, that quite often doesn't mean much when the big boys come calling. Of course there is the hope that if things don't work well for him at UConn, maybe the Stags could be a transfer destination. But I am not suggesting that will come true, and it is certainly not wishing Enoch any bad luck, for indeed I have been following his progress on the court for a couple of years and thought at a minimum he would be a mid-major recruit.
