Glad to hear that for the first time in recent memory this event will be for everybody who wants to come! Probably more showtime than hardcore basketball with such things as 3-Pt. shooting and slamdunk competition taking center stage. But this is a good step in the right direction for both programs in allowing a little more access to the teams. I would hope for a good turnout from the non-students so this new procedure would become the norm every year.
Kudos to the students leading the Stags in the Stands as they are giving out 1,000 Stag Thunder Sticks tomorrow night at the 2014 Red Sea Madness. The doors will open at 7:00 pm in Alumni Hall.
The Stag students of today are the Stag alumni of tomorrow. The time to get them interested and connected to Stag Basketball at the WBA and AH is now and not hope they will become interested or connected after they graduate.

Don't forget, this event is open to EVERYONE. Even if you haven't called and let them know you are coming I'm sure they won't turn you away. And I don't think it will be full capacity either. Obviously more "showtime" than hardcore hoops, but it is an event that the public is invited to, certainly something that people complain about that it doesn't happen enough. So again, I would hope that there would be enough interest to convince the program to allow more viewings of the team in the future.

BTW, just thought of the fact that for those of you with young kids, this would be a great way to get them interested in Stag hoops at an early age. Bring them down for a great night of entertainment!

Agree. Its important to attend these events, so that that continue to offer them, or offer additional events in the future. The university puts on a zillion events each year..... not just Basketball, not just Athletics, but all types. Its a competitive situation with a fixed Cost Budget. Hope to get recaps from the event here.
According to the Stag website Red Sea Madness is NOT OPEN TO EVERYONE (only students and season ticket holders) but it is available to watch as a PPV event. IMO it is better to open this event to ALL Stag fans, our fellow alumni, the University Community, the local college basketball fan and anyone even remotely interested. Having a FREE webcast of tonight's event in Alumni Hall rather than charging $5.95 to "experience the excitement" would help promote FairfieldStags.TV (they could pitch the advantages of having one of the different subscription plans during the webcast) and possibly even generate a little more and much needed interest in both basketball programs in the process. Not allowing the public into AH, charging $5.95 for a one hour non-game webcast and not having the event on the AR website is shortsighted.
Red Sea Madness Comes To Alumni Hall Fans can watch the student-only event on fairfieldstags.tv.
Red Sea Madness comes to Alumni Hall tonight as the Fairfield University men's and women's basketball teams will take the court for the annual event. While Red Sea Madness is open only to students and season ticket holders, fans can still experience the excitement by watching the event on fairfieldstags.tv.
The event will begin at 7:30 pm and will be hosted by women's basketball play-by-play announcer John Cummings. The program is part of the premium package but a one-day pass can be purchased for the event.
In addition to the events on the court, live interviews with the coaches and players will also be part of the web stream. The program include a three-point contest as well as a slam dunk contest. Red Sea Madness is scheduled to run for about an hour.
