For those not in a tryptophan turkey coma this evening, Rider is playing #19/20 Michigan State on ESPN2.
#20/19 Michigan State (3-1) vs. Rider (2-2) Date Thursday, November 27, 2014 Time 6:30 p.m. ET Location Kissimmee, Fla. | HP Field House Television ESPN2 (Rich Hollenberg, Tim Welsh)
Michigan State opens the bracketed portion of the 2014 Orlando Classic against Rider on Thanksgiving evening at 6:30 pm on ESPN2. The Spartans are making their second appearance in the event, having posted a 2-1 mark in 2008. The MSU-Rider winner will advance to face the winner of the Georgia Tech-Marquette contest.
After scoring only 11 points with 4 FG in the first half, not surprisingly, Rider (3-3) gets clobbered 45-77 by Michigan State (6-1) and now plays Georgia Tech (3-1) tonight (Friday) at 6:30 pm on ESPNU.

Eclipsed Sydney's new Fairfield record low of 12 points in a half. The way some Maac teams have gotten blown out this year suggests we may not have a very competitive conference RPI

Looks like Rider may have a guy in the middle who is going to give MAAC teams some trouble. 7' Matt Lopez, a transfer from Utah State, knows how to get position and put the ball in the basket, at least in this first half that I am watching against Ga. Tech. He is a monster.

Rider looks better than we do in terms of the big men and ability to create shots. Looks like they aren't gonna pull of the win vs. G Tech but they played well.
In other news, Yale gave Coach Cooley's Friars all they could handle today...he didn't look please even though the won.

Yeah the Broncs did look pretty good in many ways. Like some of their new talent (such as the center mentioned above). Perhaps they really should have won this game but were done in by some questionable shot selection (as depicted by Tim Welsh on the broadcast). As far as the Providence win, the Friars were once again without Kris Dunn who got injured in his last game. Listed day to day. They need him badly to have a good year. BTW, Kentucky next for them on Sunday. Also out (day to day) is freshman stud Jalen Lindsey. And Yale is pretty good as they have at two players that are of BCS caliber in Justin Sears and Javier Duren. So the closeness of the game was not a surprise, although the way the Friars closed the final minute or so was horrendous. That's why Ed was upset!
A couple of other interesting games on the slate this weekend.
Siena at Loyola Patsos returns to Baltimore. Despite his popularity, I wouldn't doubt that the 'Hounds draw about 243 people for this game.
Iona at Arkansas. It will be interesting to see how the Gaels do against the 25th ranked Razorbacks. Pounding Delaware State is one thing. Going on the road and beating Arkansas is another. Should be a good one.
Lopez did look good tonight. He seems to has some decent hands and foot movement. One odd stat is he has not had a blocked shot all year. The Strength of the Rider team is that start three 6-3 guards in Sadler, Jimmy Taylor, and Okereafor. Sounds impressive, but the question is do all 3 of them really have guard-like skills. They seem to be improved this year.

That Delaware State team that Iona beat by 50 (126-76) beat Wake Forest 72-65 last night AT Wake Forest.

Was impressed that Iona beat Wake Forest earlier this year. Maybe not so impressive now if the Hornets also beat 'em. Could be a down year in Winston Salem.
