ajcunet.edu/InstitutionsHere is the Map of the Jesuit School that are in this fine country of ours. Schools with better basketball programs presently: BC, Georgetown, Marquette, St. Louis, Detroit, St. Joe's, Xavier, Loyola Chicago, Creighton, Santa Clara, Gonzaga, St. Peter's and Cansius. In terms of D1 schools, I dare say Loyola MD is on the same trend as we are, and only Loyola Marymount is worse. San Francisco has the same record but they play in a MUCH better conference with BYU, St. Mary's, and The Zags. Holy Cross ,where do I place them...that is a question. Dayton is a Marianist University. We should take a look at other Catholic schools in another thread as Nova, Providence and Bonaventure are in the mix too.

Redsea2 you hit the nail on the head. Pay whatever it takes to get the right coach. In college it's all about the coach. Building an arena on campus is a waste of money. Invest the dollars in the coach and make the move to a higher conference like the A10. (Patriot league is a death sentence) It's embarrassing that FU is in the MAAC. Our facilities are just as good and in some cases better than some of the A10 schools. Yes we lack a winning tradition but it can all be righted immediately with the right coach. Only the administration is stopping us from making the move.
Fans and alumni deserve better.

It takes visionaries in charge and we do not have them.
In 10 - 15 years when there is a major shakeout in private universities due to the cost of education, the "name brand" schools as cited at the top will survive. The schools no one has heard of will be treading water, trying to merge or specialize in a couple of fields. Ironically, many of the well- known schools established that reputation and awareness via strong athletic programs.. Who knows.? Fairfield - Sacred Heart may one day merge to achieve cost efficiencies.

300k the cost of a new coach which is keeping us back from becoming relevant again.
