Playing the championship game at the home court of the higher seed is like going to Iona every year for the championship game. It's bush. Weren't people opposed to playing at the TUC each year because it is Siena's home court?
Good point. Until the rest of the MAAC gets it together, Iona could end up hosting almost every MAAC title game if we move the tourney on campus.
As much as I can't stand Iona, if they were to earn home court advantage in a MAAC Championship game, more power to them. The problem with Siena/TUC is that Siena didn't earn home court advantage.

I don't believe in anyone EARNING an advantage. The last thing that I want to see is the top team with an advantage. Play the game on a neutral court!

Whoever gets the home game has earned it based on seeding, something that makes the regular season a little more meaningful than when you have a predetermined site such as the MAAC. As far as Iona is concerned, yes they were the highest seed in the league this season based on them winning the regular season. But even though they have won the last four tournaments, actually they would not have been a number 1 seed in other recent years. If they earn it they deserve it, so no I don't agree with you that it is bush.

I think the problem is when the neutral court is so far away from both teams playing in the final. Hofstra and Northeastern also played in front of thousands of empty seats in SOUTH CAROLINA last night... I realize their conference expanded south , but its silly
and if Siena won it wouldn't have been neutral so the argument starts up again

Well we will next year, next three years actually, in Atlantic City. My question is why is EARNING an advantage a bad thing? Shouldn't the regular season count for something? Actually if you want to determine a league champion based upon the fairest way possible, the best way would be to not even have a tournament (such as the Ivy used to have until recently). That will never happen of course, because tournaments create attention and money. But since your way will prevail in the coming years, I hope the MAAC has an event we can all be proud of. But somehow I have my doubts about that happening.
In his latest bracketology, espn's Lunardi has Iona off the play-in (opening round) games in Dayton. However, as the 16 seed that leaves them with Kentucky as their opponent. In earlier versions, Iona was scheduled to play in Dayton but in Lunardi's estimation -- North Dakota State has replaced Iona in the games in Dayton slot.
I'm hoping Lunardi is wrong. I believe Iona has a pretty good chance of winning a game in Dayton but I can't imagine them being this year's UMBC and knocking off a top seed.
And Jerry Hobbie to another NCAA tournament, this time as a member of the Washington Huskies staff
I would love to see Jerrie Hobbie return to Fairfield. However, in the last 9 years, Hobbie has not been a Head Coach nor a true Assistant Coach. He has had a lot of roles that have been "Special Assistant" to the Head Coach. I do not think that coaches that have had that type of Position, can legally recruit.
I would love to have Hobbie as an assistant coach.
