One of the oddities on this message board is there is a word and combination of words which shows up as entered in the preview but when posted shows up as automati.
I’m going to type the two words in reverse order and bold them to try to get the information known. If you reverse the words bid automatic — they will show up that way in the preview but will usually post as automati.

I actually editted my post twice to say automatic(with a c), but it actually disappears when I hit post. Very strange.
Apparently writing (with a c) after the word in question allows the correct word to post. I’ll first try it without the words in parenthesis, then by itself with the words in parenthesis, then the two words together with the words in parenthesis after the first word.
automati automatic(with a c) automatic((with a c) bid
RF, you’ve solved the issue. I only need to remember to include (with a c) each time after the word in question whenever writing about automatic(with a c) bids for a conference for the national tournament.
Excellent information. I have always felt the disbanding of any conference could create a significant opportunity for someone. One of the primary reason why a school will not join a newly formed conference is the loss of the automati to the NCAA tournament. If for example, the ACC were to dissolve, or the MWC schools were to move to the PAC 12, could a group of school like Fordham, Fairfield, and others come together to essentially form a new conference, taking over a conference that would have otherwise dissolved? I would think so and it is something Fairfield should be looking at leading.
Excellent idea and would be interesting to understand the mechanics of how this could occur if the NCAA would allow it.
Assume it would be like selling a brand/trademark and the compensation for such would be significant. Involved schools in the replacement conference would have to be ready to pounce once the dissolved conference was "on the block". Or better yet be working with the "potentially dissolved" conference well before the schools were merged.
As you noted, need a school or group of schools with the vision. Traditionally, that's not us.
Oregon State and Washington State are suing the PAC-12; hoping to gain control of the PAC-12 board of directors. Should they be successful in court, the two schools through the board of directors would control the PAC-12 finances.
The only remaining members of the Pac-12 as of next summer, WSU and OSU filed a joint complaint Friday in Whitman County (Washington) Superior Court that seeks to determine the makeup of the Pac-12 board of directors following the announced departures of 10 schools, according to documents obtained by the Hotline. The Pac-12 and commissioner George Kliavkoff are the named defendants. Washington State’s Kirk Schulz and Oregon State’s Jayathi Murthy are not attempting to punish any of the outgoing schools or prevent them from leaving for the ACC, Big 12 and Big Ten. Instead, they want declaratory judgment from the court regarding the makeup of the Pac-12’s board of directors, which has voting authority and control of the conference’s finances.
From the tweet it seems Washington State and Oregon State were successful at the hearing, meaning there won’t be a PAC 12 board meeting this week. This prevents the schools leaving the Pac12 from voting to allocate Pac12 financial resources to themselves. Puts WSU and OSU in a much better position to retain all of the financial resources of the Pac12 when the other schools leave the conference.

Rumor mill is saying College of Charleston to A10. Thoughts on Fairfield rumors coming back? I doubt they take a norther school (unless they look to add 3 schools).

Here we go again with the CAA rumors. Still not sure why FF would want to join? I can understand if we had football program like Monmouth and are looking to upgrade the football program . However we are a basketball school and the CAA like the MAAC is only a one bid League. FF does not need the exposure in the CAA school areas to draw applicants based on the number of applicants they are brining in these days and the low selective acceptance ratio. If its academics driving the change ( get away from crappy academic schools , Iona, Rider, St. Pete’s, Niagara) then let’s make a significant change and join the Patriot league with solid academic institutions.
^If Delaware is looking to go FBS, the only conference that makes sense for them to join to me is the AAC, which has Navy and Temple. Of course the way recent conference changes have been going lately, maybe they’re thinking of contacting Washington State and Oregon State to be added to the Pac12.

If the CAA loses both CoC and Delaware, then that league is toast. I would prefer to remain in a MAAC in full pursuit of the Northeast basketball-only CAA schools (Drexel, Hofstra and Northeastern).

CAA is not same with these potential losses and recent additions. IMO the new MAAC commish should try to play offense to attract Hofstra, Northeastern and Drexel.

These three schools would be perfect for the MAAC adding the philly and Boston Markets with good quality institutions that are a bus ride away.

Not to mention all three are excellent academic institutions!
