IMO, an absolute screw job by the NCAA. A Top 25 team gets a 13 seed? Before you say big deal, if you're a 12, you play the 5 seed ON A NEUTRAL COURT. There has to be some reward for having NOT LOST A GAME SINCE NOVEMBER 12. AP rankings mean nothing when it comes to the tourney. Committee looks at many factors, but not rankings. I LOVE this team, but nobody believes they are really one of the top 25 teams in the nation.

Maybe not top 25 but better than top 50 for sure.

Deserved a 10 seed at worst. Princeton got a 9

Can't help but think back to the great Lasalle men's team from 1989-90. That team went into the NCAA's with only one loss (an OT loss to Loyola Marymount). But they had several high profile wins and were able to garner a #4 seed.
The ladies had some nice wins, but those "big" victories weren't against great teams. Blowing out Rutgers was impressive, but RU only won eight games this year. Beating St Johns was good, but SJU was a middle of the pack Big East team.
I too had hoped for at least a #12 seed, but Vanderbilt, who was the only team to beat us, won 22 games playing in the SEC (the 2nd rated conference) and they received a 12 seed.
The only way to prove them wrong is on the court. Let's hope the ladies bring their A game to Indiana.

I also believe Fairfield should have gotten a seed that would have avoided playing a high-major on its home court. IU is one of the best-drawing women's teams in the country and the arena will be loud and noisy. However, a 13 seed means we are one of the top 52 teams in the tournament. I don't know enough about Drake, Middle Tennessee, FGCU, South Dakota State, and other mid-majors on the 11 and 12 lines to say we deserve to be there over them. We play in a weak league and our OC schedule was not packed with tournament teams. That being said, I believe CTD will have the team ready to spring the upset. They will play with a chip on their shoulders and make FU as proud of them as we are of the 1997 men's team that went down to North Carolina and almost upset the Tarheels before a home crowd, only this team will finish the job and move on!

I don't really think Indiana is a bad draw. The Stags have an amazing record - but their best win is a WNIT team (St. John's). Their only loss is an NCAA team - true - but there just isn't a lot else to go on. This is no fault of Fairfield. I thought (and still think) they had a nice competitive schedule for a team that was looking to move up into the top 3 in the MAAC. I don't think there was ever any consideration of at-large bids or NCAA seeding!
Maybe in the future?

That said, if mid majors start pulling some upsets (hard to do with the current top 4 seed stay at home concept) it would help everyone at our level.

The Stags and Hoosiers did have a common opponent. IU beat Rutgers by 10, Lady Stags won by 24.

Almost seems like a mid major tournament would be a good concept. Most mid majors have no chances of making it past the first round given the top 4 seeds get home court advantage every year and with a 31-1 record and a 13 seed for a MAAC team, how would any mid major team ever get a chance? I wonder how many 13-16 seeds, mid major teams win on an annual basis?

Marist had two of those upsets and Quinnipiac had one. This link provides a list of upsets: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NCAA_Division_I_women%27s_basketball_tournament_upsets

This link provides a list of upsets: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NCAA_Division_I_women%27s_basketball_tournament_upsetsGreat info... there is the sad stat below: The good news is 13 seeds have won quite a few, let's go Saturday! 15 vs. 2 and 14 vs. 3 Unlike the men's tournament, in which twenty-two (22) 14 seeds have won their opening games since that tournament expanded to 64 teams in 1985, no 14 seed has ever won a game in the women's tournament. Ten (10) 15 seeds have won their opening games in the men's tournament since that tournament expanded to 64 teams in 1985, but no 15 seed has ever won a game in the women's tournament. The closest any 15 seed came to winning was in 2017, when Long Beach State lost 56–55 to Oregon State.
