Like the pick up if confirmed. Big, experienced kid…. Scores close to double-digits…. Will help down low.
I hope he will help down low. He looks like he has some size.
That being said, nearly half of his shots during his career were 3's and he didn't get to the free throw line too often. Not sure how much he played down low on offense.
His stats are remarkably consistent over his 4 years.

Well glad to see a signing but not sure he is someone who is going to radically move the needle. 44% of his shot attempts came from deep. His 3 pt % last year is acceptable (.339) but over his career it is below average. So he will need to hit a higher percentage of his shots. His Free throw numbers are also not indicative of someone who has great shooting touch 60%. On his highlight video 2 of his three point shots were banked in. That usually is not a highlight shot .
The good side is he has been a consistent 12 points per game guy. But we didn't just sign Michael Jordan, I imagine he will be solid but will need to improve to be the all-maac kind of player we need.
I wonder if this signing prompted Moumine to enter the portal. Sorry to see him enter the portal, I thought he would develop into a player.

We'll never know about Moumine as a player I guess, at least not as a Stag. But I hope things work out well for him. Anyway, hard to speculate how Jenkins will fit and I understand your lukewarm reaction based on the evidence presented here. But you never know how this will turn out. I certainly didn't anticipate the stellar career that Fields was going to have when he transferred in from Bowling Green a couple of years ago. We should be so lucky if the same type of thing happens to Kyle, right?

Yes, I totally agree. I feel like I know a little about Basketball but how often am I and so many others wrong? For example, I thought Yetna would be a huge impact player this year. I thought he would be fully recovered by December and end up first team all-maac. This didn't happen. I thought Fields was a marginal 3 point shooter that I might not have signed. He was when he arrived but he was top 50 in the country his final year. I would never have bet that.
One of the things that is really hard to assess as an outsider is work ethic. Greg Francis, Caleb Fields, Tyler Nelson, Taj Benning among so many others tirelessly worked on their game and got much better. You can't forecast this. We had other players that just never got better.
In the case of this player, his three point and free throw numbers did improve significantly from junior to senior year. If we see that same improvement at Fairfield he is all MAAC. If we see the numbers from his junior year(.507 from ft and .276 from deep), he's a miss. Hoping for the best, I will be cheering for him to do well....

I was going to say almost the exact same thing re: Fields.
I like that this guy has been consistent and is older. He shot 34% from 3P, last year. Maybe he's got a 38% season in him to close it out? Nothing wrong with a strong stretch 4.

1,000 point scorer but does look slow on tape. Our team was exciting to watch last year because of the pace of play. I would think Jenkins would struggle at that pace.
Jenkins will be one of 13 on the roster. Peyton Smith improved his conditioning and became a rim runner in a few months. I think it’s more likely that Jenkins will improve his conditioning in the next 7 months than Casey changes his preference on pace of play.
I’ll be a little optimistic ( not my normal nature) about the frontline of the stags including Jenkins. Smith/Seck combined can provide FF with adequate play at the #5. IMO both will improve next season. Rogan, Bleechmore and Jenkins can fill the #3 and #4 positions. However, all will need to concentrate on rebounding which was a weakness this year. The guards are the concern. We are losing four quick , tall and long all league guards . I just don’t see how CC can replace that loss of talent via the portal or thru frosh recruitment.
If they have enough NIL money, there is MORE than enough guard talent out there to replace anyone that left. Unfortunately, that is now the name of the game.
