The effort in the last two games offers nothing to indicate that SJ has lost the team. Sidney knows as much as we do that this season is lost in terms of rescuing a dismal W-L record. So, I believe, he's sending a message about next year and beyond. He wants it to be clear to the kids who are going to stay that you have to give more regarding his catch-all term of "commitment." He wants them to see what this impressive walk-on exemplifies. He wants the kids on the bench to go to school on that. I don't doubt anything else.
I recall TOT doing something similar with Charles Bentley, who was made a captain, I believe.
How about giving Johnston some scholarship money. Doesn!t he deserve it? The coaching staff seems to be throwing money around like it is water, I.e., dispensing scholarships to prospects wantonly.

Whose to say that he is not getting scholarship money. From an NCAA perspective, I think we are only allowed to give full scholarships, or no money. My guess is that Stevie Johnston has a full scholarship this year.

The effort has been very good the last 2 games, and our play has also been much improved. Committment can mean a lot of things. And since player development is so important because we are young, one of things that it does mean is that Players have to have the commiittment to improve. And that means they have the responsiblity to work on their game on their Own Time. And they have a responsiblity to improve. Its not just about showing up for practice.
And Division I basketball is a competive situation between players. If some players are more committed than others, then I think we can see the outcome in PT and game results. A combination of a low committment and low results does not bode well for someone in a competive situation.
