We just got shut out of the MAAC awards for the mens team.
We had 2 unbelievable last second buzzer-beaters against us in both SPU games.
This team needs to come out Thursday and play with a purpose and a chip on its shoulder for 40 MINUTES.
No let up and keep attacking for 40 minutes.
The team has been playing better the second half of the MAAC season. Time to cash in on that and get the job done on Thursday.
What he said!!!!!
So spot on. We need to finish this seaon with at least one win in the tourney. It is tough to beat a team three times in a season, especially on a neutral site. We have improved. Go Stags!
It is tough to beat a team three times in a season, especially on a neutral site.
In last years MAAC tournament it wasn't tough to beat a team three times in one season, as Fairfield beat St. Peters and Rider 3 times and Manhatten ended Fairfield's season with a 3rd win over the stags. Last year I did a very detailed analysis on how in the MAAC tournament, at least for Fairfield, statistically the chances of Fairfield winning a game when they were 2-0 or 0-2 entering the MAAC tournament were virtually the same. So historically there has been in the MAAC tourney some evidence that beating a team 3 times is very difficult, even though last year, it happened in all three games Fairfield played in.
Going into last year 11 times in 20 years a team went 3-0 or 0-3 versus 9 times the result was an upset. Read more: Hard to beat a team three times

bob, The way I understand it is that again this year only the Men's Quarterfinals and Men's Semi-finals will be on ESPN3 and MAAC.TV will be doing just the postgame press conferences and the awards show:
Nothing yet on the Stag website with any more information on the game but the St. Peter's has their pregame release up yesterday already with no mention of a webcast video being available, just audio and Live Stats:
no broadcast for the mens "Pig" games. Ibelive this is consistent with last year. Yu will need to physically show up in springfield to see the stags loose! I'll be there.
Any word on another Student Prince pregame? Attendance last year seemed to be about half of the first year. After this season and a Thursday game, I hope the alumni outnumber the alumni staff.

Just a guess here 89 (no inside information), but I doubt anything is planned for Thurs. night. However if the Stags advance to Sat. I would imagine something would be organized. Hope for a win and then stay tuned!
Surprisingly nothing on the University's Alumni website's Upcoming Events page about any "pregame/postgame gathering place" in Springfield considering the Stags' game is only about 48 hours away. Maybe the Hartford Alumni Association Regional Chapter is involved but nothing on their Facebook page about the game? There are a heck of a lot of Fairfield University alumni in the Hartford-Springfield area, Western Massachusetts and Central Massachusetts within an hour or less of downtown Springfield.
The Thursday night First Round game (sounds better than play-in-game) at 7:00 pm probably doesn't help but getting the word out is important regardless. Also the Stag Women play on Friday night at 9:30 pm and hopefully/miraculously the Stag Men will be playing Manhattan on Saturday at 6:30 pm.
The Student Prince was the place for Stag alumni and fans to meet:
I feel duped. I am pretty sure that the offer I received in late October/early November on a 12 month MAAC TV package said that it was the only way to see the play-in games televised (streamed). Can anyone confirm? I may ask for a refund considering that and the lousy broadcast quality. Why is MAAC production so inferior?
Watch your favorite teams all year long during the regular season and during select MAAC Championship events. With a large offering of fall, winter and spring sports from our participating schools, you are never far away from the action. Also, MAAC.TV offers school specific packages which includes on demand video such as interviews, press conferences and features.

If it is indeed true the game will not be available via video how does the Macc justify televising games during the regular season and leaving out the most important games like tourney action? another mess I presume--some of us live too far to get to the games---this league needs to wise up!!!
