It is kind of a joke that people can spite all sorts of crap and stand behind a veil of anonymity. That is the price we pay, I think , for the modern age of the internet.
Some of the Stag Fans and Stag Alumni Fans here know each other from being at the games, season ticket holders, Doc's Round Table, Stags Club or possibly even going to the University together as classmates. A few years ago, on one of the old message boards, I suggested that we let each other know who we are and when we graduated and many of us did so. There have been many new members added to this Fairfield Stags Message Board since then, so I invite any of the 237 members, new, old, ancient, die-hard and or long suffering, who would like to step out from behind the "veil of anonymity" to do so again if they would like. However, if you are in a witness protection program or on some agency's most wanted list then you might want to reconsider.
In the spirit of free disclosure, I am a member of the great class of 1968. While a student had the same seat at Alumni Hall for four years. In those days all students had to buy tickets, and my best friend and I had the good fortune to see the Stags have four great winning seasons in a row. After graduation I went to Graduate school in Buffalo, NY and maintained my season ticket for 2-3 years. I was able to get home for some games during the season and donated the unused tickets. I got married while still in Grad. School, and a year latter after our first daughter was born moved to Rochester, NY and have been there since. That said I still tried to get home at least once a season while my parents were still alive to see the Stags. Early on I took my wife and daughter to holiday tournaments. I had the great pleasure to see Joey D in his first game at the holiday tourney in Springfield MA. Also drove to the holiday tourney in St. John's in the 70s. Finally, I am a true fan of Stag Basketball, but not personally a "jock". I was a chemistry major at Fairfield and had a career as a research scientist for 35 years, but I can never forget the energy that flowed at Alumni Hall at tipoff time. Who can forget Mike Branch's father at AH yelling LETS GO FAIRFIELD during the action!

I don't think its necessary to disclose who we are, I feel I know 80% of the posters already just from interactions at games and events, and feel it is nice to be able to post opinions with anonymity. I don't think people should be asked to disclose who they are. I do think everyone should be respectful, which is something I try to do. I also think we should keep it fun, some people around here take themselves a little too seriously.
Anyway, while I don't think people should have to disclose who they are in my case I feel like most people already know me, so its not exactly news.... Tom Mercaldo, Class of 85 aka RF/Reindeer Fan.
I'd be happy to introduce myself to any and all Stag fans at the game in Boston next season. I'm an '09 grad and I teach high school English, so the grammar and spelling really does get to me. I enjoy reading Bridgeport's ee cummings style, but I think some of the posts bordered on unreadable. I'm sorry that this offended some enough that they wanted me banned from the forum. I'll work on my patience as a grammarian :-) Since I have so many students that I encourage to go to Fairfield (and that have gone in the last few years), I know a few of them read this board and I would rather not directly put out my name. I'm sure they can tell, but it's nice for the sake of plausible deniability. I'll be at the reunion this year, if anyone else wants to chat Stags basketball then. I'll also be at the athletics reception, so I will definitely chat up Sydney and pose some of the questions we all seem to have.
One fun note is that I give my students updates on our team throughout the year and have them put up the hand sign and say "Go Stags!" I'm hoping to give them better reports next year, especially since my colleague's son went to Manhattan and he was constantly letting me know about their success.
