Wasn't able to make it up to the arena tonight due to work commitments. Would love to hear your thoughts on the event and the latest on the upcoming season and the future of stag basketball.

Also was unable to attend and would enjoy hearing some opinions and news coming out of the evening.
Peeling paint inside and outside, 55 year old wood bleachers and bathrooms with a PTA style folding concession table but now Alumni Hall to get AC. That should really help the game day experience for Stag Women's Basketball, Stag Volleyball and all the other athletic events. I guess it is better than nothing but MAAC opponent Siena has committed to renovating their on campus athletic facility (ARC) with chairback seating and other much needed improvements because as Siena states - "Our facilities now lag behind those of our peer institutions, let alone the colleges and universities whose national reputations for academic excellence and athletic success we seek to rival"...but Alumni Hall is getting AC.
Well, this says something 1. AH will be around in its current configuration well into the future 2. They are doing piecemeal projects and no announcement of an overall PLAN for Alumni Hall 3. Reinforces the notion that the guys running this rodeo are reactionary, not visionary
On the positive side, parents at Prep graduation will be nice and cool. Women's volleyball and BBall games are not usually attended well enough to make a difference but it should be more comfy.
BTW, was admiring the roof of AH at the reunion this year. It looks great. Too bad they can't make the inside look as nice as the roof!

There isn't a building an America that can get as loud and has the same atmosphere as AH. Todays new arenas, while having all the bells and whistles, are cavernous and somewhat cookie cutter. I always thought if we could gut the inside of AH, there would be room for seats on all four sides. Would have to lose the stairs in front, the cages, rowing machines, etc. and back the court up a bit. If there are ways to make renos without the full permitting and code upgrades needed, I'm all for it.

That was the plan in 1999 to reconfigure the inside of AH into a bowl configuration. The design was drawn up and the funding was part of the Capital Campaign but it was abandoned when the AHY/WBA became available. The previous administration had a plan for AH and announced it. The plans were on display in the lobby of AH during the 2000 season.
High on Kirkland and Threatt. Certainly expect both JUCOs to start. Threatt can score in multiple ways and Kirkland is a clone of Mo in terms of personality and his inside/outside game. I believe he is a little bigger than Mo. Let's hope for the best there.
KJ will be challenged by Segura, the pass-first point guard. Sounds like it's KJ's team to start but Segura will get his chance.
Amadou got his knee scoped and is rehabbing now and will be healthy. Amadou expected to improve his mid-range game. Malcolm is better in practice but needs to show it in game action.
Marcus is expected to improve his game even more.
Basic reports on the other frosh. No different than what we heard from fans who saw them play during season.
Grennan is gone but will finish his education at Fairfield. Stevie has a scholarship and is one of the team's leaders, as we knew.
As always, SJ is very impressive and was, imo, quite honest in his assessment of last season.
Malcolm and Marcus playing Summer Ball in NYC at Baruch College Summer/Pro league with Manhattan and Iona Players. Marcus needs to be Top 15 in the MAAC.
Demarcus Threatt has been on campus since June 1st, and playing pickup up games with Malcolm and Marcus with Sacred Heart players. He can Score and Score. Style of game is similar to Needham.
Frosh will play, but will be eased into line-up, instead of forced fed like last year. High hopes for both Nelson and Degnan as they bring Shooting, Passing and High Basketball IQ. Segura, as a frosh, will challenge Rose right of way.
We could play 2 Point guards at time and we will play more 3-guard line-up. We did not play 3-guards last year last year because we did not have enough good Guards. StevieJ will get minutes, but it seems quite clear that Threatt is targeted for the 2G.
Mo hoping to get an overseas contract, and has been working with this years players. Derek Needham hoping to be on campus once his season is done.
Sacred Heart game unlikely for this year, but they want to book next 3 years right now. We might schedule another team.
4 year contracts are with Belmont, Bucknell, Loyola
No move movement on teams switching leagues, because of the NCAA Proposals that will be voted on in Aug 2014, concerning the Big 5 Football Leagues.
AH will be around for the long term. That is good news that they made a decision, so they now can start to allocate money, and not think they are throwing it away. Infrastructure items will be handled first.... Roof (Done), Windows, and AC. Other things will take longer than people will like, but they want to do it right, and minimize down time.
A true Doc's Rountable Table type of atmosphere. 1 hour of individual discussion prior to Roundtable, 1 Hour Roundtable, and 1 Hour post roudntable huddles with coaches.
