The Stag website has been updated with a new link on SUPPORT to Friends of Fairfield Athletics:
www.fairfieldstags.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=32500&ATCLID=209483498In addition, there are now 5 links to Make a Gift, Athletic Gifts, Endowed Funds, Facility Gifts and Become a Friend plus JOIN THE CROWD (Basketball season ticket information) and a list of the UPCOMING EVENTS:
Become a FriendCurrent Use & Friend Funds
It’s really not that hard to do. Becoming a Friend of Fairfield Athletics is a simple process that begins with the desire to make a difference. With that desire, you can begin making a impact with a phone call, a quick email, or a click of the mouse.
Anyone can join a Fairfield University Friends group by simply making a donation of any size to a sports program. You have often heard the phrase that every dollar counts, and that is so true when it comes to college athletics. It doesn’t matter if you know how to throw a curve ball, sink a free throw, or how to handle an oar. All that matters is that you want to help student-athletes become the best and achieve excellence through your financial support.
Those schools who receive annual Friends dollars are able to compete at a higher level. This is especially true at the mid-major level where donor and alumni Friend support impacts the student-athlete experience. The support can also play a role in what coaches are able to provide and the tools available to recruit student-athletes. Enhancements beyond operating budgets are what separate institutions.
For more information on becoming a Friend of Fairfield Athletics, please contact Marie Muhvic, Director of Development for Athletics and Recreation at (203) 254-4000 ext. 2474 or by email (mmuhvic@fairfield.edu).
Friends Dollars Can Fund:
•- Travel to out-of-region competition, training trips, and out-of-season competition
•- Additional equipment needs
•- Technology such as cell phones, specialized software, video and editing equipment
•- Team support for out of term meals and medical support
•- Program enhancements for coaches and student-athletes
•- Recruiting costs such as transportation and lodging
•- Events for alumni, friends, players, and parents
•- Team banquets and awards
No further mention or a link to Bob Berchem's
Friends of Fairfield Men's Basketball letter or any of the other
Friends of Athletics programs. However, the TEAMSTAG brochures are still on the website? Not sure what the status of the Lyons-Lademan Fund is as the Stag website has no information on what it is or if it is now just donations to Athletics but the University's website still has complete information on the Lyons-Lademan Athletic Fund, the former link to Friends of Fairfield Athletics and the Error Message if you try to join:
www.fairfield.edu/supportfairfield/lyons-lademanathleticsfund/blog.fairfield.edu/stagfriends/?page_id=102Maybe this is still a work in progress with "For more information on becoming a Friend of Fairfield Athletics, please contact Marie Muhvic, Director of Development for Athletics and Recreation". The SUPPORT link on the website seems more organized with "Anyone can join a Fairfield University Friends group by simply making a donation of any size to a sports program" but actually becoming a member seems more complicated than before and a little confusing. The previous and now discontinued Friends of Fairfield Athletics did explain why you should join (but you really weren't able to) and listed the benefits of joining but that information is no longer available on the Stag website:
Why should I join?Through your participation, volunteerism and financial support, you can help promote excellence in coaching, recruiting and academic performance to enhance each student-athlete’s competitive experience.
You will also be able to meet or re-connect with student-athletes, coaches, university administrators and staff, alumni, parents, friends and fans of the Fairfield University community and family!
In addition, you will receive Communications throughout the year to keep you informed and up to date, such as:
•Stags Sports Report (monthly e-newsletter)
•Coaches’ updates
•Chair or Committee member updates
•Sports information updates – conference championships, pre or post season tournaments/championships/competitions; awards/honors
•Invitations to special events
