Yale beat Bryant by 39 Columbia beat Bucknell by 11 at Bucknell
I had Yale, Columbia and Bucknell as similar opponents and teams that were equivalent to the 2nd thru 5th ranked teams in the MAAC. Going 2-1 vs those 3 teams, is a measuring stick if we can be a top MAAC team this year.
Interesting in that Iona Marist game that Iona only took 25 shots from 3 point range - out of 60 total shots. Against Fairfield, they took 40 3 point shots - and 78 overall. In both games, they scored 101.
And AJ English scored 16 - good for 4th on the team (2-4 from 3 point range). Casimir didn't play.

Looks like English was playing more of a PG in the Marist game as Casimir was out. English had only 8 shots. But the Proctor kid started for Iona and was only 1-5 from the floor. He scored 20+ against us,and was the difference in our game, because he scored a lot of critical baskets when it mattered. Iona has a lot of weapons, and they just spread it out.
Also Quinnipiac beat Canisius by 2 last night in what is considered an upset as QU has not played well this year and Canisius has. Plus Canisius just beat Monmouth

Wild opening weekend in the MAAC. At this point, Iona is a strong No. 1 and Monmouth deserves to be second. But it's wide open after that. I don't want to get too carried away, but I think the Stags are in the mix for the third seed. I think we can play with Canisius, Siena, St. Peter's, Rider, Quinnipiac and a healthy Manhattan.
Wagner beat American today, 55-48. The Seahawks are now 4-2, with less than impressive victories over American, Maine, Morgan State and DIII College of Staten Island and competitive losses to St. John's and Seton Hall. Wagner plays Rider and Monmouth before the Dec. 18 game against Fairfield, so we'll have a better idea about them. Fairfield's next five games -- Wagner, Loyola, @ Bucknell, @ Manhattan and Dartmouth -- are all winnable. We need to take care of business, one game at a time. We have a real opportunity to get substantially above .500 and to stay there all season long.
Just gotta get Marcus back on the court.
