Very impressive first class design on paper that should look great in that part of campus and next to the WAC. Hopefully Development will be actively seeking alumni donations and financial support? It will be interesting to see when these plans and designs will be released by the University?
Maybe the wooden bleachers, the original dugouts and perimiter fencing of Alumni Diamond next door to Alumni Stadium could probably be renovated and incorporated into the design without too much additional work or cost? The alumninum end zone bleachers from Alumni Stadium could be used to replace the original wooden baseball bleachers. Even more reason to get more alumni financial support for the homes of Stag Lax, Stag Soccer and Stag Baseball.
I wonder what will happen to the existing end zone bleachers and the east side bleachers now at Alumni Stadium? Recycle, scrap or disassemble and reuse around campus?
Fordham did it for their Ram Baseball program with their Houlihan Park on the Rose Hill campus:
I'm a frequent visitor and reader, but this is my first post. Thanks for bringing all the Stag news to one place.
Am I the only one hoping that the Alumni Stadium/Field renovations are the first move toward 1-AA football returning to Fairfield? I miss the games in the fall.

Welcome nyc. After 7 seasons (1996 -2002) of MAAC Divison 1-AA Stag Football at Alumni Stadium (and a game or two on University Field when the turf was too wet) it ain't comin' back. Too expensive with too many players, equipment and coaches especially in this economy just like Stag Hockey.
In addition to Fairfield dropping MAAC Football, of the 10 original MAAC Football members, eventually so did Canisius, Iona, LaSalle, St. John's, SPC and Siena. Duquesne moved down to the NEC and former rivals Georgetown moved up to the Patriot League and Marist moved to the Pioneer League both with an even bigger financial comittment.
I agree though that the Stag Football home games every Fall were fun and a great way to spend a few hours on campus with a post game cold beer in the Levee. I didn't miss a game after the first season and the traditional Homecoming was extra special and great for alumni families and kids. Unfortunately it is a program that just costs too much money to operate.
IMO, the much needed Alumni Stadium renovation is really about finally having an NCAA Divison 1 facility for Stag Lax and Stag Soccer but also for the Prep's Jesuit Football, soccer and lax. The new Alumni Stadium should be a recruiting asset to both our programs compared to what is there now.
Stag Football always averaged at least 2,000 fans a game which is what Marist (Pioneer Football League) and Sacred Heart (NEC) does too. Stag Soccer averaged about 400 fans last season and Stag Lax averaged about 650 which is probably much less than what the Prep's Jesuit Football does on any weekend in the Fall.
Stag Football will always draw fans on campus at any level and in any league but it is just too expensive.

Speaking of that football team, I remember them being pretty dominant through most of those years. Was the coach's name Kevin Kisner? Whatever happened to him. I always thought he might be able to use his success at Fairfield to help him get a bigger and better job.
Thanks for replying all. I agree football is an expensive proposition, particularly in this economy, but bringing it back would better position Fairfield for a conference move--to the Patriot or the CAA--should a spot open up. I know there are differences of opinion about what the best move for Fairfield sports is--is the Patriot really stronger than the MAAC?--but other schools are moving and, right now, I fear our alma mater is losing this game of musical chairs.
