If the stAgs make the final Predictions on student attendance ? No more the 200....
AH looked empty in the First Round games on ESPN3 last night with the box score attendance total at 105 for both games. The Stags have been averaging 153 fans at home this season. Hopefully much more than that this afternoon and Sunday with the MAAC Championship and the NCAA bid on campus?
The Stags will play fifth-seeded Siena this afternoon at 2:00 pm as Siena swept fourth-seeded Rider in Friday's First Round. During the Regular Season the Stags beat Siena 3-0 in AH and 3-1 at Siena.
In other First Round action, third-seeded Quinnipiac outlasted sixth-seeded Niagara, 3-2, to advance to meet second-seeded Marist on Saturday at 5 p.m.
The 2016 MAAC Championship Match is slated for Sunday at 2 p.m in Alumni Hall.

Stags take the first set 25-20 to lead (1-0).
Looks like a very good and noisey Stag crowd in AH with lots of students. A nice rowdy crowd of cheering students in the Super Bleachers.
Excellent quality picture and sound in AH on ESPN3.

The Box Score won't have an attendance number for the Stags' game but only a total for both games this afternoon. Kudos to the students who came to the game today as the MAAC announcers mentioned many times the good crowd and the loud, noisy and rowdy Stag students that gave the team extra energy to feed off and a home court advantage. Also mentioned was the great job the University did in promoting the game with signs and posters all over campus and paying for the tickets ($5.00) for all the Stag students that came to the game today and tomorrow too. Nicely done all around!

Box Score has the combined attendance for both Semifinal games at 611 in Alumni Hall.
Fairfield’s 3-1 win over Siena on Saturday extended the nation’s longest active winning streak to 21 matches. The current run ties the second-longest streak in program history set during the 2000 season. The program record is a 27-match run by Todd Kress’ 1998 squad en route to the MAAC Championship. That team finished the year with the best winning percentage in the nation at 35-2 (.946) and had a final RPI of 24. The Stags are also in the midst of a 30-match winning streak against MAAC opponents (postseason meetings included).

The most famous Fairfield Vball game was in 1998 vs NotreDame. A father of one of the players said there were 2,000+ fans, the place was rocking, and we beat NotreDame. From the Notre Dame archives: Volleyball Drops Second-Straight Five-Game Match
Irish lose to Fairfield on the road.
October 10, 1998
FAIRFIELD, Conn. - For the second night in a row, just two points meant the difference between a loss and a win, as the Irish women's volleyball team fell to Fairfield 16-14, 13-15, 15-8, 4-15, 17-15. The defeat dropped Notre Dame to 5-8 overall, 2-1 in the BIG EAST, while Fairfield improved to 18-1 overall in 1998.
Offense was not a problem for the Irish in this match. As a team, Notre Dame hit an amazing .415 and greatly improved last night's .154 showing in a five-game loss to Connecticut. Four Notre Dame players had double-digit kills, including junior Emily Schiebout (Blaine, Minn.), who tied a career best with 17 kills to lead the team. Schiebout, who hit .552 with just one error on 29 attempts, was one of four Irish players to hit over .400. Notre Dame also dominated the Stags at the net, by out blocking them 21-8. Fairfield's serve, however, proved to be the deciding factor in the game, as the Stags served 14 aces and outdug the Irish 91-66.
Notre Dame concludes its road trip with a BIG EAST Conference match against St. John's at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 11. www.und.com/sports/w-volley/recaps/101198aaa.html

In what could have been setup as a Prelim to our NCAA Tourney appearance, Sacred Heart lost in their finals today in 5 sets and they were undefeated in the league and heavily favored. If SHU would have won, it would have setup a game for next week between the Stags and SHU of 2 NCAA Tourney teams. This game was rescheduled from earlier in the season.
The game would have been a good practice and workout for both teams, and could have created some excitement. SHU had 653 fans for their Championship game, and we had 553, both on the same day, just hours apart, and few miles apart . And Maybe could have approached the excitement of the Stag - Notre Dame game from 18 years ago.
However, this SHU game will provide a good practice match for the Stags, because we have 2 weeks before our NCAA appearance, and SHU beat us earlier in the season.

The upcoming SHU game wasn't rescheduled but it's the second of two games this season between the teams. In September the Stags lost 3-0 (25-19,26-24, 25-18) to SHU in Alumni Hall at the first game of the Fairfield Invitational Tournament. Regardless of the SHU status it will still be a good tune up game for the Stags before the NCAA Tournament.
