Per connor76's request, it would be great if Stags on Campus could occasionally post some photos of the new construction progress.....When the BCC had it's first addition under construction around 20 years ago the University had a web cam setup on their website and when Rafferty Stadium and Alumni Diamond were under construction there were updated photos posted. There is no reason why the the FB sites for the University and especially AR aren't posting ALL the updated construction sites. Years ago I suggested to AR and also to Fr. von Arx that the University should have permanent HD webcams set up around campus to show what's happening and the change of seasons on the beautiful campus to keep our fellow alumni connected to the University. It is very easy to do and has been in place at many universities including at Holy Cross and there is no reason that couldn't be done at Fairfield University too. WebcamsGet a bird’s-eye view of Holy Cross via our webcams. The cameras provide live, streaming video 24/7.www.holycross.edu/webcamsNursing School Addition: Rex Plex Addition: Nursing School Addition: rdgusa.com/projects/fairfield-university-integrated-nursing-sciences-center

Kind of disappointed with this new nursing building. It looks like a uninspiring building from the '60s.

Kind of disappointed with this new nursing building. It looks like a uninspiring building from the '60s. It doesn't look terrible, but I wish they copied the same style from the kelly center, or maybe even how the dorms look wouldn't look to bad

They clearly wanted the architecture to fit with the old science building built in the '60s. They succeeded but I feel to the overall detriment of the new building. I agree that the Kelley Center or new dorm architecture might have been more interesting.

It seems they were going that route but changed their mind according to the renderings Attachments:

They should have stuck to the original renderings. I don't understanding the red brick and tinted glass. Seems more consistent with the athletic center which is an outlier on campus.

IMO, the best building that was designed in-house was Alumni House (plus it has a fantastic view to LI Sound from upstairs) and the worst is probably the Levee. Time for the Development gurus at the University to get the outside of the Levee a much needed facelift and funded by some corporate sponsor.

Rubicon146 - I actually think they integrated some of the ideas/designs from the new dorms in South Quad. For instance, they use the brick used on Prep, the Rec Plex, and Alumni, but they also use red brick. I kind of wish they stuck with the Prep brick, but there must be some design decision being made. Maybe since South Dorms have some red brick & Quick Center is red brick?
When you see the building in person, I actually think it is nice and quite impressive. Unlike buildings from the 60s, there is depth and open spaces beyond the large window facade which makes the building more interesting.

In the parking lot next to the Quick Center facing the pond with a tiered out patio to the beautiful field behind it (area in front of library).

The DSB building is one of several that are planned or under construction as part of the Jesuit university’s Master Plan supported by a Fairfield Rising Campaign. Fairfield Rising is the largest capital campaign in the university’s history and has exceeded its $160 million financial target ahead of schedule. As a result, the university is now shooting for raising $210 million by December 2018.Nemec said extending the campaign ensures that Fairfield continues its rise as a modern Jesuit Catholic University. Wally Halas, Fairfield’s vice president for university advancement, said extension of the campaign will support new academic programs, endowed faculty and the infrastructure to support new students “for generations to come.” m.ctpost.com/local/article/40-million-makeover-for-Fairfield-University-biz-11735320.php#photo-13640449
