Will it be played as scheduled? Depending on what Sandy does to the area? I guess we will know more by thursday of next week. the forecast is for clearing on friday, game day. Hopefully the hurricane will not batter the power grid to badly. I doubt the arena has emergency power sufficuent enough to power the entire arena?
The University is closed Monday and Tuesday with a Mandatory Evacuation at the beach:
This is an updated emergency message from Fairfield University to all faculty, staff, and students.
As a reminder, all classes scheduled for Monday, October 29, and Tuesday, October 30, are canceled.
University offices will also be closed on Monday, October 29, and Tuesday, October 30. Please be advised that essential personnel, such as Residence Life staff, all maintenance and facilities staff, and others are asked to report to work as usual. Essential personnel will be contacted by their supervisors as needed.
Once again, all students who can go home are strongly encouraged to do so. We are anticipating the loss of power on campus and the surrounding area. Students who will be remaining on campus are asked to follow the instructions of the Office of Residence Life. At a minimum, keep all windows and doors closed and bring inside any items that are outside and could be blown around.
Students who live in the beach area are subject to a mandatory evacuation order by the Town of Fairfield by nightfall tonight. Students should expect to be away from their homes for multiple days. Therefore, they should take with them sufficient clothing, supplies, and valuables. Be in touch with your landlords with any specific questions. Students can relocate their cars to campus.
Power could be an issue but water could be a bigger one. Being right on the harbor, the storm surge could hit historical flood levels and inflict major damage on the Arena. Did someone say "Alumni Hall"?
I would say the biggest concern right now is for the University of Bridgeport and its people. Anybody that is close to any shoreline is severly threatened.
Manadatory Evacuation of University of Bridgeport. Off campus students being taken in at Sacred Heart University.
Fairfield Beach Students have mandatory evacuation. Its either go home or does Fairfield Main campus providing shelter. Rec Plex or Barone CC would be the most obvious.
Hello everyone, I hope that everyone is alright and is safe. I had some damage to my house, but as long as a tree did not fall on it, I consider myself lucky. I'm not sure if anyone will get this email because from what I see everyone has lost power. I came to the university which has power to send out this email in hopes of you getting it when your power comes on.
Hopefully,, the power will be on soon...if not for those of you who have NOT paid yet, the arena cannot print your tickets. What you can do is come with a check that night and I will let you know your total amount. You can get tx for that night and then Jay can Print them in the next few days. I hope that works for everyone. I will ask Jay if you bring a cc card if you possibly can pay at the arena But not sure if that is an option...Anyway, no worries, it will work out.
Hello everyone, Here is the most updated information.
-For those of you who have not picked up your tickets yet, I will be at the arena in will call like I have been the last few years with your tickets. I will be there at 5:30pm. If you purchased a parking pass it will be with your tickets. VERY IMPORTANT....if you purchased a parking pass and have not picked it up, you have to come to the arena first (you can park in the circle) and pick up your pass before you park. I'm so sorry if it is inconvenient. It is the best way for the arena to handle the parking.
-At this point if you have not paid for tickets, you can come to arena that night with payment and Jay will give you tickets for that night and then will print the rest of them within a few days.
-We have car stickers for all our season ticket holders that you will get when you pick up your tx..if you already picked up your tickets, come see me for your sticker.
As always, please feel free to email me if you have any questions. Helen

Exhibition Game Preview up on the Stag website with today's dateline:
After several weeks of practice and scrimmages, the Fairfield University men's basketball team will finally have a chance to play someone outside the program when it hosts the University of Bridgeport on Friday night. The Stags and the Purple Knights will face off at the Webster Bank Arena at 7 pm.
The exhibition game has become an annual event as this will be the seventh straight meeting between Bridgeport and Fairfield. The Stags hold a 5-1 edge in the series that started with a 68-51 win in 2006. Fairfield posted a 97-70 win in last year's match up which was also the debut of Head Coach Sydney Johnson. The Purple Knights left the Arena with a victory in 2009 when they benefitted a 75-69 decision......
Are folks still going to the game tomorrow night? Metro north after Stamford is shut down and traffic has been a mess. Not sure how I will make it there.
Once again Student Tickets for Fairfield University Basketball are FREE:
Game on tonight! Fairfield Men's Basketball takes on the University of Bridgeport tonight at 7pm at Webster Bank Arena. FREE student tickets available at the BCC info desk, BCC 212, or at Arena Box Office. Shuttles run from Alumni Hall starting at 6:15pm.
Also Webster Bank is giving FREE tickets to the AHL Bridgeport Sound Tigers hockey games this weekend at the WBA :
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (Nov. 1, 2012) – With the State of Connecticut reeling from the impact of Hurricane Sandy, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers have announced that this weekend’s games on Saturday, Nov. 3 at 7:00 p.m. vs. Hershey and Sunday, Nov. 4 at 3:00 p.m. vs. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton will be free of charge courtesy of Webster Bank.
“We’ve seen the damage - we feel it,” said Bridgeport Sound Tigers President Howard Saffan. “We want to give back to the community. With the help of Hearst Media Services and Cox Communications, we intend on getting the word out. We encourage you to bring your friends and family to Webster Bank Arena this weekend and enjoy yourselves during this difficult time.”
The Sound Tigers also encourage fans to bring non-perishable food items to this weekend’s games to aid people severely impacted by Hurricane Sandy.
A great idea to help the community that should also be done by both Fairfield University and the University of Bridgeport too if the word could get out in time.
Like to see the returning players show Chemistry and Consistency. I heard they played very well vs Quinnipiac
Like to see the frosh make some progress, and either Sidibe or Mikulic establish themselves as a more worthy center than Matthews
Like to see Wade take more control of the team and get assists than Needham. I like Needham’s quote in CT Post. "Dez and I are definitely on the same page right now," Needham said. "It's his ball. He's going to run the show for us and I'm just going to contribute how I can."
I hope to see Mo Barrow expand his game to the perimeter. He is ready to be a 12ppg, 8rpg player.
My guess is that Gilbert establishes a role in this game. My guess we will see great defense with some blocks and dunks. And we will see if he does that at the SF position
