Fairfield University Women's Soccer senior Alana Leahy was named the New England Soccer Journal Defensive Player of the Week after anchoring a backline that surrendered just three shots on goal during Fairfield's 2-0 week.
"Alana has been working hard this year and I think she has made a lot of improvements," Head Coach David Barrett said. "There's still a long way for her to go. I think there's a big learning curve in a good way. I think she knows that she is scratching the surface of what type of player she can become during the course of the MAAC season."
The Stags will open up conference play when they travel to Manhattan for a Friday night matchup at 7:00pm.
