The Fairfield University Women's Soccer team has announced the addition of two transfers: Ally Filipkowski from A-10 George Washington and Kelsey Gilbert from BIG EAST Providence into the program.
"I am looking forward to working with Ally and Kelsey," Head Coach David Barrett said. "I think they will both add something special to our team. They are both coming from good playing experiences which is invaluable when making a big move like this. Adding two mature players to our roster in the spring really will jumpstart our off-season training and spring season."
Filipkowski played in 14 matches during her freshman season at George Washington, netting two goals including one game winner. Both of those scores came in a two-match span as she recorded the game-winner against Richmond and followed that performance with a goal at Saint Joseph's.
Before committing to George Washington, the midfielder was selected to compete on the Puerto Rico U20 Women's National Soccer team, one of 10 girls selected to the traveling roster. She was also a two-time team MVP for Sharon High School where she captained the team during her senior season. She netted 10 goals and 15 assists as a junior and completed her high school career with 17 goals and five assists as a senior. She was a three-time Hockomock League All-Star and was named an Eastern Massachusetts All-Star as a senior. She played her club soccer for FC Boston ECNL for three years and GPS Elite for one season.
Gilbert appeared in a career-high 10 matches during her third season with Providence, helping the Friars to 11 victories in 2018. Prior to her stay at Providence, Gilbert was a two-year captain at Whitman Hanson Regional High School in Massachusetts. She was named the team's MVP in 2015 and the Defensive Player of the Year in 2014. She was also received two Eastern Massachusetts All-Star First Team honors. She will have 2 years of eligibility remaining with the Stags.
Filipkowski and Gilbert will join the Stags for the 2019 season, the second season under Head Coach David Barrett. (7-9-2)(2-6-2).
