I don’t think we’d be interested in Green playing this season to give us three PGs. Really building for the next two years with Tshiefu and Caleb. But saw this.
I agree. Assuming no injury problems with Taj and Aidas, having Caleb suit up this season would be counter-productive I would think, and not only that, but it would take away the nice thought that our PG situation would be in good hands for the next three years rather than just two.

First, I am unaware of any rule that says if a coach leaves late it has any impact at all on a transfer. Perhaps that is the case, but I don't know the rational for that.
But with that being said, I agree with 79 that we probably don't want to play green this season. We can get through the season with Taj and Aidas. I think Aidas will have a good year. We are then setting up the program for a very good year the following seasons and for Green and Tsiefu to play together for 2 seasons. The year after next we really should have a very solid team with El Shiek, Methanani, Cruz and Benning as seniors, AJ Rose with a year of experience, whipple more seasoned and Tsiefu and Green eligible. So I think we have a reason to be optimistic about the future, something I haven't felt since SJ's second season. A very good start for Young on the recruiting side.
If there is a possibility for Caleb to receive a waiver to play this year I believe we should pursue it 100%. No disrespect to Aidas or Taj, but I'm not sure combined they equaled what Caleb did in his soph season: "Green entered the transfer portal a few days ago. He's a 5'10" PG who has started all 64 games he's played in at HC. Solid stats including almost 11 ppg and 1.86 assist-to-TO ratio last season." The MAAC is a guard-oriented league and having that talent playing this year would be awesome.
JY and staff seem to be more than capable of recruiting guards for seasons to come!
It is interesting to note that in his two years at HC, Green played quite a few games against MAAC teams.
12/30/18 at Iona 16 points, 5 assists, 1 turnover, 2 steals in 40 minutes. HC wins 78-71 12/22/18 vs Siena 12 points 5 assists, 4 turnovers, 1 steal in 39 minutes. HC wins 60-57 12/20/18 vs Canisius 9 points, 3 assists, 3 turnovers, 1 steal in 38 minutes. HC wins 65-63 11/18/18 vs Siena 6 points, 1 assist, 3 turnovers, 2 steals in 39 minutes. HC wins 57-45
12/22/17 at Siena 7 points, 2 assists, 1 turnover, 0 steals in 35 minutes. HC loses 71-65 12/19/17 vs Iona 7 points, 2 assists, 3 turnovers, 3 steals in 33 minutes. HC loses 82-68 12/01/17 vs Manhattan 11 points, 1 assist, 3 turnovers, 2 steals in 35 minutes. HC loses 70-54
I may be in the minority but I expect a very good junior season from Taj. He doesn’t have Green’s numbers as a sophomore, but he was playing with another PG in Neftali and wasn’t asked to score. In Taj’s favor for the last five games of the season, he showed the he can flat out defend, he is an excellent ball handler and simply does not turn it over. Makes his foul shots too. He has size, toughness and durability. What he will need to do this season is score efficiently to an 8-10 pt. average and raise his assists by 2-3 per game. That’s going to mean more penetration for trips to the foul line or dishes for easy buckets. If he does that we might see us going with two PGs in 20-21. If not, then pencil Green in for 30+ minutes a game.

Taj got my award last year as the most improved player. It was shocking how much better he got from one year to the next. It may be too much to hope for that he could improve as much this off-season but here's hoping. Last year he was a better defender than Aidas or Neftali and his size makes him able to defend players that were mismatches for Neftali. That said, there are a few areas I feel Taj needs to work on to be an answer at point guard. The way he dribbles makes him very slow at bringing the ball upcourt. Secondly, he is not a guy that creates open shots for other players. He doesn't really draw defenders and dish. He needs to make getting assists a more significant part of his game. That might mean scoring more because players won't feel a need to cover him if he is not scoring.
Aidas has had some amazing assist games and that is why I give him a bit of a nod over Taj. I still think that Taj will be a very important part of the season and if he can up his game again this year, certainly that would be something we could be excited to see.
" the chief " at 6' 6" plays over the rim at small forward like no stag has in recent memory. puts it on the floor and hits the j. a impact D1 player. ( based on a film )
Caleb's statement on his transfer and his close relationship with Tshiefu Ngalakulindo
Written with class for sure. All indications are pointed to the fact that not only are we getting a fine PG and basketball player, but also an outstanding and well-rounded person as well, which BTW is par for the course with this program relative to the second part of this statement. Caleb, we're all happy and excited to see you perform. Welcome!

Some stats on Caleb Green.....
He averaged 36 and 33 mpg in the last 2 years at Holy Cross. Certainly a Player that played a lot of minutes and was a major part of the Holy Cross team. Having a Double Digit scorer as a PG is going to be a nice advantage to have. As far as Assists to Turnovers, he rates a good 1.8 ratio (Same as Tyler Nelson), showing that he is a good ball handler
As far as Assists per 40 minutes, here is how he rates compared to some of our other Stag PG's:
If Aidas can find consistency, he has the potential to have an excellent season.
His minutes were definitely impacted by Neftali's arrival - but he should have the opportunity to be the 30+ mpg PG if he can dish it out like we know he can.
I'm hoping there is something about JY's offense that really takes advantage of his vision.

I agree that Aidas has great court vision and is a very good passer. And Benning is very good on defense and can dribble the basketball. But we need guards that are Multi-Talented. I feel that Caleb Green has a multi-talented skillset.

This is just a general opinion based on the numbers that Green has posted and also the comments I have read about his game, but what we are getting here is a more mature version of Neftali Alvarez, at least in relation to how Nef performed in his one year as a Stag. A lot of similar production in many ways, but minus the mistakes. Now don't get me wrong, I think Neftali has a huge upside and was on his way to becoming a star, something that will probably become apparent in a couple of years at Mercer. But the point is Caleb is a more finished product right now, therefore when he is eligible (probably not until next season), he should be ready to seamlessly step into the lineup and give very positive performances from day one. Something to be excited about I think.
