After posting an unbeaten MAAC record in 2018 and winning its second straight conference regular-season title, the Fairfield University Men's Soccer team was chosen as the top team in the 2019 MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Stags picked up four of the 11 possible first-place votes and tallied 107 total points to edge Quinnipiac University which stood second with 98 points. Head Coach Carl Rees, the 2018 MAAC Coach of the Year, will look to three players who were selected to the Preseason All-MAAC team to guide Fairfield on the pitch, a trio which helped the Stags post a 23-10-5 overall record and a 15-1-4 mark in conference play over the last two seasons. Goalkeeper Gordon Botterill, defender Jonas Vergin, and midfielder Matt McGlinchey will anchor this year's edition after earning All-MAAC honors a year ago. Last season the MAAC Regular Season Champion Stags (11-5-1)(8-0-2) ended with a disappointing 0-2 loss to Rider (9-9-1)(6-4-0) in the 2018 MAAC Semifinal Round on Lessing Field. It is Stony Brook University. www.stonybrook.edu/
