Lots of open trenches and conduit being installed between Barone campus center and existing Alumni Hall. Perhaps the beginning of the site infra- structure work necessary to support the convocation center Plan? I am hoping to see the crane staged and ready with the wrecking ball attached ....
Stag alumni and Stag fans should be getting updates on the new Alumni Hall Convocation Center from the University rather than from local area posters here but thank you 74 for your updates. Will there be anything (renderings, information, demo/construction schedule, how to donate....) in the lobby of Alumni Hall on Friday for the Manhattan game to let the Stag fans going to the game to know what is going on. If not, then still why not as these are the people that will be the potential new/repeat season ticket buyers and donors. Not the way to promote the new home court and the future of Stag Basketball. I guess the professionals and those in charge at the University know better?

From a reliable Athletic Dept source, this work has nothing to do with the new building.

Last week, someone in a Fairfield Bar said that the trenches were in preparation for the convocation center. I do not know how reliable this person is, but I have seen him in the Bar twice before. My guess is that the trenches are not part of the convocation construction, but part of some thing that needed to be done prior to construction.

Bar information is always Shakey at best
Either way, it all means nothing until I see the wrecking ball crash into the middle of the roof!!
SHU To Build Premier Hockey Arena At Its Fairfield Campus
Sacred Heart University will build a nearly 4,000-capacity, $60 million hockey and skating arena on its West Campus in Fairfield, according to a press release from the University.
“The facility will be home to our Division I men’s and women’s hockey programs, our nationally ranked figure skating team and our men’s club ice hockey team. It is the continuation of a robust, multi-year building and expansion program reflecting our significant growth, appeal and national status,” SHU President John J. Petillo said in the release.
The release said the arena would be completed in 2022, and will feature a number of amenities for students and guests, including a pro shop, beer gardens, food venues, suites, meeting rooms and offices. Construction will begin this summer.....
Sacred Heart Atlantic Hockey is averaging 312 fans at home so far this season at the WBA but it is important to SHU to build this $60 million facility back on campus and not to stay in downtown Bridgeport. Maybe an upgrade of their 2,062 seat Pitt Center on campus is next?
Not so sure that SHU would lease the WBA for Pioneer Basketball games as they are averaging just 460 fans at home so far this season and last year averaged just 401 fans in their 13 home games.

If someone is giving 60-take it. The cost of a new arena is significantly more than the lease costs of what they are doing. FU needs it. SHU is being foolish.

The release is on the SHU website dated January 25, 2020:
