Ok. I stand corrected. Let's hope there is eventually a 20-21 season!
Yeah fingers crossed. In this article, although no one knows what will happen, there is the suggestion that even with a slight or longer delay the season could be played out as scheduled, even if it had to stretch itself into competition with the "in between" season of (mostly football). And the fact that NDWH coach Jason Shea, one of the more outspoken and influential coaches in the state has said that in order to save the season his players would wear masks, I think that in itself might lead me to be somewhat optimistic. Apparently a meeting in a couple of weeks will go a long way in deciding what might happen.
Dashon Gittens, a 6-3 junior guard from Weaver in Hartford went for 56 points last evening in a game at Harding. The Presidents aren't very good this year so I don't think you can say this was great competition. But still, that's a lot of points, and it comes from a kid who is very athletic and has been putting up a lot of points for a team who depends an awful lot on him to do well in order to win the games they do. Not highly rated yet, nevertheless he is someone to keep an eye on.
Well now a few months later Gittens is rated highly. The athletic guard who put up a lot of points for a bad team in Weaver now has moved on to Woodstock Academy and apparently has reclassified to play two years there as he is listed in the 2022 class. And in that class he has suddenly received a rating of # 2 in Connecticut as well as #7 in all of New England. This ratings jump is stunning, and quite frankly with everything going on this summer where a lot of kids weren't viewed as much as normal, I might question this ranking a bit. Nevertheless I do think this guy would be someone to keep an eye on in the coming years.

According to this article in the Hartford Courant, when and if there is a high school basketball season in Connecticut this winter -- the players will be required to wear masks.
That rule will be applied to both basketball and hockey.
...Last Thursday, Gov. Ned Lamont’s office and the state Department of Public Health set forth new rules for youth sports, including a mandate on mask wearing for basketball and ice hockey players...
The article says Matt Curtis is involved with Stags. I also think Primo Spears s on Fairfield's radar.
Matt Curtis, Northwest Catholic, 6-3, So., G: As a freshman, averaged 17.5 points, three rebounds and 2.5 steals. Over the summer, he picked up his first Division I offer from Fairfield University. Primo Spears, Windsor, 6-2, Sr., G: One of the state’s top guards a year ago, averaged 27.5 points and nine assists, leading the Warriors to the Division I state title game. Likely a Division I caliber guard, Spears was an All-State football player this fall, too.
Well of course there have been plenty of comments about Spears throughout this thread, but now having witnessed Curtis in action twice this year, I can say without any hesitation that this kid is a coming star in state circles. This is a 6-3 combo guard who can do everything you would want on a basketball court. Shooting, passing, rebounding, playing defense, etc. means he is hard to contain for the opposition. Averaging about 25 points a game this year, something that won't come down after the 27 he scored in a first round league (CCC Conference) playoff game at home tonight against Conard. How would I describe his game? The best thing I can think of is that as a sophomore he probably compares, and compares favorable to how Tyler Nelson did as a sophomore in high school. I say "probably" because actually I never saw Tyler or knew of him until his senior year at Central Catholic. But anyway, Curtis is already one of the best players in the state even though he has two more years to go, and I'm certainly happy that the Stags were apparently the first to offer him back in the summer.
Well the Stags might have been the first to offer, but now unfortunately they have some serious competition, and it's from one of Jay Young's 'friends' too. Rutgers just offered Matt Curtis a scholarship.

If I understand it right, 1/19 is only when practice would start, not games.
This doesn't surprise me considering the way things are going. By that time based on reports of possible vaccine success, maybe they can get things up and running. (Fingers crossed).

Primo could go big time IMO:
Hey thanks for posting this gostags. Last I knew, Primo was listed as moving to St. Thomas More (Conn.) to continue his basketball career. Therefore when the latest NERR rankings came out about a month ago and he was not even on the list I was shocked to be honest with you. Mystified actually. I thought either he had had a career threatening injury or perhaps he had declared football as his number one choice going forward. But anyway now I know the 'rest of the story,' and certainly I will be following his progress moving forward.
Well I was wondering when they were going to come out with this list. Just a few comments after perusing. First of all, Knowling is entirely deserving of the POY designation. As solid as they come in almost all areas of the game. I think the Stags tried to recruit him at one point (under Sydney), but when Yale came calling that was it. Anyway, he should eventually do well as a Bulldog, although because they are so strong now (or have been), he probably is going to have to wait his turn to contribute.
The fact that Clingan is listed is no surprise at all. Future high major that will continue to attract a lot of attention next season whether he stays with his Bristol Central team or goes somewhere else. He's a beast with skills, a deadly combination!
A comment on the two Windsor players. McKeithan is a fast and skilled rather small guard who can really shoot. I'm sure he might become a problem for the Stags and other MAAC schools as he competes for Rider down the road. And his running-mate Spears has the chance to be a very good PG in college because he is extremely quick plus is a very unselfish passer who makes plays for others. I thought beginning the season that he was maybe the best senior in the state, but his shooting fell off a little this time around and that held him back a bit. But he could certainly play and play well at the mid-major level, therefore I'm glad to see that Fairfield is "showing interest," especially because he is outstanding defensively. That said, a source has told me that he will probably go for one more year as a scholastic player to a prep school, so we'll see. Football is also a consideration for him.
I do want to say that at least right now, Jackson (from this list) will be the best returning junior in the state. He is future D-1 and might make a good target for the Stags down the road.
Finally, the fact that Matt Curtis of Northwest Catholic is not on this list is an injustice I think. He's only a sophomore so that's probably why. But without mentioning names, I'll guarantee you that he was a better player than at least three or four of the other guys listed here. Anyway I'm glad to see he is listed on the Fairfield verbal commits page. He could become a highly recruited player by his senior year.
Looking back at the last paragraph from you nash, I hope you are right on Curtis. I am very excited about this one!
