The problem with the SHU game is they want a Home and Home. But neither the Pitt Center (2,062) nor Alumni Hall can accommodate this game. As Reindeer has posted: 2007 - 5,018 2008 - 4,959 2009 - 3,124 2010 - 3,829 2013 - 5,060 2015 = 3,251 2016 - 3,043
The game belongs in the WBA.
I never liked the idea of playing SHU but when the attendance numbers were there I thought, you know what its worth playing. I agree that if we draw upwards of 3000, the game needs to be played at Harbor Yard.
But these numbers are old. Fairfield was averaging over 3000 fans a game during the early days at Harbor yard, that 5000 number is reflective of a fairfield that doesn't really exist anymore. It was also a result of heavy promotion by both programs. The 2013 game took place during the CT 6 and the attendance reflects tickets sales for all three game. The reality is this match-up has not really drawn above 3900 since the initial two seasons and attendance has dwindled as the novelty wore off and as Fairfield has won every game in the series.
I still agree that this game will outdraw a regular game but I don't see the attendance breaking 3500 near term based on the state of things at Fairfield. If I were Mark and Paul, I would wait until the Stags have done a little more to rebuild the program before I resumed the series.

For 7 years, the SHU - Stag rivalry posted great results. But, this was also much more than a "Game". It was an "EVENT". Just look at what was a by-product of the Event....
- Mascots Raided each others campuses and produced Videos - Pregame Press conferences (live and taped) - Pregame and Postgame write-ups in newspaper - Student Banners created from Both schools - Free Student T-shirts from both schools - Bobby Valentine vs Stag student cheering section creating a stir - 2 sets of Cheer leaders - 2 sets of Dance teams - 2 Bands

Very cool stuff We don’t have that fun stuff with any other school, and never will because of the distances between schools. IMO, this is about good, competitive basketball, excitement and and good, fun rivalries. Not about status and academic profiles. Let the Debate Team concern themselves about those issues
St Pete’s beats Monmouth handily . The peacocks seem to have things together. It really pisses me off that crappy academic school, with a run down campus , limited resources and located in an “ arm pit” of Jersey City can put a decent team on the floor and FF cannot.
I wouldn’t throw around crappy academic school re. St Peters. Its alums have deep business ties in metro NY, the biz school just got a $10m gift and rankings recognize how it contributes to social mobility of its graduates. It’s a school with a different role and population than Fairfield’s but a worthy institution nonetheless.
I see St Peters as being a school that has overcome some of the struggles that inner city schools possess. Certainly a credit to the MAAC. And from a basketball perspective, they have just as many basketball accomplishments than a lot of the MAAC.
