The Stags move forward in the NCAA Championship with a First Round game against UConn on Friday, providing another challenge for this Fairfield team.
"They are a very skilled team and ranked second in the country so I think that says what we are up against on Friday," Kane said. "We look forward to the opportunity of playing them and the challenge of going against such a talented team."

Despite the loss, taking the nationally ranked #2 UCONN Huskies into overtime is quite the accomplishment for this team, Coach Jackie Kane and the Stag Field Hockey program. Well done ladies. Well done!! The team and Coach Kane should be honored at halftime at the next home game in Alumni Hall with a standing ovation. They have earned it and they deserve it!

"I could brag for two hours about this team – it's the mom in me," Coach Kane said. "I wasn't sure what to expect this season but I knew we had a lot of talent. It was the cohesiveness and the camaraderie that they have that makes a huge difference. I think the fact that we had a win in every conference, had the most wins in program history and were tied for the most wins in the country coming into today shows that we accomplished so much together."
In addition to the record number of 19 wins, the Stags also set the program standard for consecutive wins with 12, a run that ended with today's loss. The checklist also included a conference championship which led to the program's first NCAA tournament win two days ago against #23 ranked American University.

This season, other than the Stags (19-3), only one other school took #2 UCONN (19-3) into overtime and that was #9 Princeton (14-4). Also a (2-1) win for the Huskies.
