I'm surprised this topic hasn't appeared previously. A couple of months ago California's state assembly voted unanimously to pay student athletes. Several other states appear to be following suit. Isn't it just a matter of time before all of the state schools pay their athletes (by raising taxes on their citizens of course)? I could see where this could be a big draw for an 18-year old athlete and it would make it tough for schools that don't generate a lot of revenue from sports and/or would not be funded by the state government. californiaglobe.com/section-2/californias-new-paid-student-athlete-law-quickly-spreads-to-other-states/
