Atlantic City, N.J. (Jan 16, 2020) – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference today announced a partnership with Tropicana that extends through the 2021-22 season. Tropicana Atlantic City is located within a half mile from Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall, home of the 2020 MAAC Basketball Championships.
“The MAAC is proud to partner with Tropicana as we transition our men’s and women’s basketball championships to Atlantic City,” said MAAC Commissioner Rich Ensor. “The Tropicana Hotel in Atlantic City is a world-class destination resort that MAAC fans will be sure to enjoy as they visit the Jersey shore for our championships in March. The dining and entertainment options at the Trop are amazing, and we expect fans will enjoy the gaming options available to visitors.”
As part of the deal, Tropicana will receive sponsorship benefits relating to the MAAC Basketball Championships in Atlantic City at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall. Benefits include, but are not limited to, signage, promotional rights, email campaigns, in-game features, on-site activation, and social media advertisements.
I like this deal at face value. The MAAC fans will be concentrated in one big hotel. Should make for a lively Fan atmosphere if you plan to stay overnight for tourney. I have no experience with AC , so I do not know the property at all? What is it like?

The Tropicana is really nice 74. There are several good restaurants within the building, including Carmine’s and P F Chang’s Decent gym. I did not gamble so I can’t comment on that aspect.

According to the MAAC website, rooms for the first part of the week (Monday-Thursday) are only $59.00 a night, obviously a great deal. Friday it goes up to $139.00. And for those who want to celebrate a tournament championship for the Stags by drinking the night away on Saturday, that'll cost you $219.00, but who would care at that point? No seriously, it looks like the league is doing something right here with this arrangement.

I just made an arrangement to stay at this hotel for the first three nights, Tuesday thru Thursday at the $59 a night price (before taxes of course). Good thing is you have a 48 hour window if you need to cancel (like say the Stags avoid the PIG round). Also you can checkout early without a fee after one night (if say the Stags somehow lose the first evening). Anyway for those who are considering this same arrangement you only have until February 21st to lock in this rate, and if you do call 1-(800) 345-8767, use the code HMAACF.

Looks like you can get a better deal at Bally's 1-(609) 340-2000. Less than $40 a night Tuesday thru Thursday.
