Defense effort was consistent/ good holding a solid Siena team to 62 points. However, the Stags will never be a consistent winning team with the offense we have. Why is Jesus Cruz position in Jay’s offense by the three point line? He is not a consistent outside shooter, it is painfully evident. He needs to be positioned in the paint by the MAAC sign and work inside where he can be successful.

"I thought we played hard and competed but our offensive execution was just okay today," Head Coach Jay Young said. "You have to give credit to Siena because they played well and deserved to win the game. We missed too many shots, took too many threes and missed some critical free throws. We had some defensive miscues that contributed to that 9-0 run late in the game. We just didn't execute when we needed it."

Jay Young is being way too diplomatic there when it comes to our offensive challenges. So tough to watch us lose this game. Landon ice cold including a surprisingly open look with a few seconds to go. Credit to the coaching staff for us even being in this one though. Siena is one of the most talented teams in the MAAC.

Should we make a trade for a guard who can shoot before the trade deadline?
But in all seriousness I think this offense is what it is because of what Jay inherited. 66 PPG in 2018-19 with Jon who is playing well in the G League and a freshman guard who averaged 11.5 per game.
Now we sit at 59 PPG as a team, which I don’t think is that bad considering the two we lost above. We already have more total wins (11 vs 9) and MAAC wins (7 vs 6) then last year. Trust the process and hope the guys recruit some more scoring options to play with the transfers in 2020-21.

Was worth the trip today as it was an entertaining game, if a frustrating finish.
Siena is a far more talented team, so the Stags' defense and rebounding was impressive and gave us a shot to win it. The offense remains an improvisational mess. Many points were scored today with great individual efforts and a good bounce or two, often with the shot clock about to expire. Doesn't help when our one alleged sniper had trouble just hitting the rim from long range. (Though I thought his last shockingly open look was going down to tie the game.)
Siena has scorers all over the floor. And they have tough, big, physical guards who can reliably get into the lane and break down a defense for kickouts, which happened three painful times in the closing minutes with a Saint draining an open 3, including King's shot from North Benson Road. We need an influx of players who are able to reliably get their own shot, and get shots for teammates.
Aidas seems to have the ability to penetrate during the closing minutes of the game. Just a couple more drives earlier were what we needed. Same from Benning. Come tourney time we need to increase the aggressiveness.. we play too tentative. Go at people and get to the line!
Landon created his last attempt by stepping back or aside to shake his defender a bit. He has to do more of that. I do believe he was fouled on an earlier attempt also but no whistle.
Disappointing finish. Better effort than vs. Niagara - but a much tougher opponent.
Most of the usual analysis applies. Maidoh seemed more himself, after a few lackluster games.
Yeah agree with everything you say. Not too much more to say about it other than Siena with three real good MAAC players in Pickett, Burns and Camper certainly had the talent advantage, and it showed in the end. They also made a majority of their foul shots too and in that way the Stags were unlucky. However considering the luck they have had over most of the year with opponents missing possible game-winning shots against them, it's hard to complain too much about what happened today. Great effort, but when Landon and Jesus have poor scoring games it's tough to win unfortunately. And as you say, it was great to see Chris have more of a positive impact than he has had recently. I do remember though that it was only a little over a week ago where he missed the Marist game because he was sick. Therefore it's my feeling that maybe there was a little carryover in the couple games in his return before this one. I don't know, just speculation, but certainly his energy level was great today and that's encouraging going forward.

Aidas was very good today. Same with the previous game down the stretch in that win over Niagara. In order to win tournament games in Atlantic City we need decent guard play, and Aidas coming alive to help Taj could certainly help the cause. BTW one thing we were really, really good at in this game, a most unusual thing from many others, was the extremely low amount of turnovers, and obviously a lot of credit has to go to those two for leading the way in that department.

It was a large crowd and loud too for that matter. But a 'sellout,' no way. Plenty of seats available in the end bleachers and anyone who wanted to could get in. A little misleading I think.

Calling the game a 'sellout' is very misleading as there were plenty of spaces available in the end bleachers. Maybe students who had tickets didn't show, but I'm sure no one was turned away at the door. That said, the crowd was large, loud and enthusiastic, and I would hope the last two games would indeed fill the place up so when they say 'sellout,' they aren't lying.
Had a shot to tie and extend the game, it was halfway down and rolled out. Sometimes that happens. Two really gutsy performances this weekend by this team, for all their offensive flaws, I really love the way this team plays for this Coach.
