Promotions Department announces first ever “Tear down Alumni Hall day”
In an effort to lure more fans to Sunday's game, the promotions department is holding its first ever “Tear down Alumni Hall day.” According to the director of promotions, this promotion is designed to make fans feel like Sunday's game is a must see event. "We want fans to feel that by attending they are becoming a part of history, like if they were were there when the Germans tore down the Berlin wall. Fans should know that they have to show up for this game or they will miss out on being part of a very important day; they will never again get to see a game at Alumni Hall for as long as they live."
As part of the promotion, fans who bring a sledge hammer to the game will be allowed to knock down a portion of the south wall after the game. If getting a chance to swing a sledge hammer isn't enough to entice fans to attend, bricks from the south wall will also be available for purchase for only $25, allowing fans to each bring home a piece of Fairfield history. University President Mark Nemec hopes the promotion will not only draw fans to the game, but he hopes the event will help the University save money on the cost of demolition and debris removal. If the event is as successful as he hopes, Nemec plans to host a brick laying day later this year where fans can pay to have the chance to help build a portion of the new south wall. Regardless of how successful the event proves to be, Nemec stated he doesn’t plan to run this promotion again in future years……
