Anyone know who we will be playing in November/December?
While having absolutely no hard knowledge whatsoever (different from my connections to the previous staff), I think I can make a few guesses about part of the schedule based on logic in relation to how this past season's OOC slate was constructed. For instance I wouldn't be surprised if Holy Cross and Loyola come to Bridgeport because I'm quite sure the contracts signed with both those schools demanded a return game. Also at home might very well be the (supposedly) delayed contest with Boston College. When the contract was signed, I think I remember it was for three games on a 2 for 1 basis, the first of the series having been contested a couple of years ago up in Boston. As far as away games based on this past year I'm near certain that a trip to U Mass is in the cards because I don't think it was a one year deal with them. Also I think we will be going down to William and Mary too. As far as others we played such as Bucknell and Wagner, it seems like we have been competing against both those teams on a yearly basis recently leaving me to wonder if contracts might have run out with both of them. Maybe yes maybe no with them.
Final comment is we were originally listed as a participant in the 2020-21 Belfast Invitational in Ireland, but (and this doesn't include the latest world events), that event probably won't take place this season. In it's place we may be invited to a different overseas tournament the following year, but the way things are right now, who knows? After that I guess Jay will try to fill in with games according to what he thinks he best needs to help his club get ready for MAAC competition. That probably will not be in a tournament, but that's just my guess.
Yes it might. But also, what I think was behind the cancellation this past season and what might effect this coming year was not the virus, but rather the expected problems related to Brexit. So if you can believe this article, maybe some of those problems have been cleared up. But there had been some talk of perhaps moving this tournament to Dublin. So who knows? Brexit, Coronavirus or other world problems always seem to get in the way, don't they? Bottom line is at least for the coming year I don't think you will see the Stags playing outside the USA.
Didn't mean to suggest the 2019 Belfast Classic was canceled because of the virus. I was under the impression the tournament was poorly run.
Looks as if new leadership has taken over. I hope this tourney is around for a while.
Well actually I remember viewing quite a bit of the action both years, and if crowd size and electricity were any indication I would have to say that it was just the opposite as far as how it was run. At least from a distance it appeared to be quite an event. In fact I remember our own Peter Gillen as the lead analysis guy for CBS Sports Network suggesting the whole experience, and that includes such ancillary happenings as clinics for kids, the players touring the area, interacting with new fans of the sport, etc. was unbelievable. In fact the first year it was a 4 team tourney but by the second they had added a separate 4 team bracket of higher level teams. In fact I think it was Marist of all schools who won their bracket in 2018. Anyway, the interest was high then and I think it will continue to be when they go back there. So I'm glad the MAAC will apparently continue to have a representative team there in the future.

I think we have played BC twice. A win at Mohegan Sun, and a loss at BC. If the 3rd game is in Bridgeport then we have made a really good deal with an ACC team.
But, I seem to remember that this might be a 5 game series. For Fairfield, 1 home game, 2 Road games and 2 Nuetral games in Mohegan Sun. That would be a fair deal for both BC and Fairfield

We are not going to Ireland. My understanding is the teams invited last year when it was cancelled are the ones now set to play. Looking for another tournament but this Covid-19 is putting a lot of scheduling on hold for now.

Here's an article on how BC might be an NCAA team in the upcoming season. I think in one of the podcasts, Young said we'll be playing at BC in the upcoming season.
