Estrada is a very good player and deserves the award. If he did not win it, then there were about 2-3 other St Peters players that could have won it. It was a great recruiting job by Shaheen Holloway. St Peters was in great shape to win the MAAC Tourney as they made it to the MAAC Semi's

It shows what Recruiting can do for a Program.
Yeah but it also shows how hard it is to keep a program moving forward even with great recruiting. Quite frankly the lower level D-1 programs of the world have become kind of a showcase option for those talented enough to work their way up to schools who play at the highest level. And because of this, when the dust settles after each season ends recruiting becomes super important just to put together a good team for the next year. In summary this means that recruiting is vitally important, but unlike years past where that meant you were building up a program based on continuity, that is no longer the case with most schools.

Anyone notice how Ferron Flavors is being mentioned as one of the top guys in the transfer market this year with P5 schools interested?
Cal Baptist transfer Ferron Flavors Jr. has heard from Xavier, Oklahoma State, Wake Forest, USC, Washington State, BYU, Utah State, Wichita State, Maryland, Detroit Mercy, Pacific, Loyola Chicago, Arkansas, DePaul, Missouri State, San Fransisco, UT Martin, NC A&T, San Diego

The Stags need to find a Ferron Flavors or 2.
Looks like San Diego is after Ferron Flavors. San Diego is where Martin Bahar is an assistant

Well in that case, especially if Martin is a main recruiter for his services, I hope he gets his man. USD is in need of long-range shooters based on their 31% from 3 this past season, therefore this might be a perfect spot for Ferron to finish up his college career by playing in a great mid-major conference against such schools as Gonzaga, St. Mary's and BYU, plus he gets to stay out on the west coast a short plane trip from his home in Tacoma.
Martin Bahar is in his first season with the Toreros as assistant coach after he joined the program in December 2019. In his role at USD, Bahar is the Toreros’ recruiting coordinator, including an emphasis on international recruiting, as well as a coach in all facets of the team. Bahar came to San Diego after spending the previous four-plus seasons at USC.
It’s becoming more apparent to me that if a mid-major does put together a good team better enjoy for one year because any good players on the team will most likely leave for greener pastures.

Sadly that is going to be the deal going forward. Mid-majors are now the farm system for top programs

Well it's not like this is something new. It's been happening now for quite awhile but unfortunately it's about to get much worse, especially if the new NCAA transfer rules go into effect after their June meeting. But from an individual school standpoint (talking Fairfield here obviously), this certainly presents an opportunity to really get good in a hurry and maybe have a special year at some point. Certainly this will be a test for Jay Young and his staff to see how quickly they can adjust to the situation. Stay ahead of the curve so to speak in this new era of college hoops.
