Finish Strong:The Fairfield Men’s Lacrosse Class of 2020For nearly three decades, Fairfield University Men's Lacrosse has been a program that consistently played for championships. Whether it was three straight MAAC Titles in the 1990s, a pair of NCAA postseason berths in the 2000s, or four appearances in a conference championship game in the 2010s, the Stags were always in the hunt, no matter the caliber of competition lined up opposite them. Now a member of the Colonial Athletic Association – a conference where the margin between wins and losses is razor-thin, and where the all-league team bears a striking resemblance to an All-America team – Fairfield had slipped out of championship contention in recent years. The Class of 2020 had one more chance to correct that course, now under the direction of a newly minted coaching staff led by first-year Head Coach Andrew Baxter. "By the time players are in their fourth season within a program, they've reached a comfort level – sometimes for better and sometimes for worse," said Baxter. "We asked these guys to embrace a lot of change, whether it was a new role on the field or a new culture in the locker room. The buy-in from these seniors was 100%, and that was a huge component to our success this year." But the paramount statistic for the 2020 Stags is 5-2. Five wins – matching last season's win total at what was meant to be the halfway point of the campaign. "Obviously, 2020 was a unique situation, and hopefully something we will never experience again for reasons far beyond lacrosse," noted Baxter. "But I hope when these guys look back on it, they'll be able to see beyond the disappointment of having things cut short and can take pride in what we accomplished." "Especially for the seniors," Baxter continued, "they attacked 2020 like it was their last chance. The steps forward that we took this season go beyond those seven games. Whether it's the guys who are graduating and moving on or the guys coming back for another year, they're all a part of the 2021 Stags and every team after that because of the commitment they made to creating an atmosphere and a culture that will lead us into the next chapter of Fairfield Men's Lacrosse.".... I wonder how many of these seniors will return to campus and take advantage of the NCAA waiver to complete their senior year of eligibility due to the corona virus cutting the season short? There are some really good players that I am sure coach Baxter would welcome back . If they are graduates I would assume they could transfer from FF and be immediately eligible to play during the spring of 2021 at another institution?

Lots of talent in this senior class. Shame we didn't get to see what they were fully capable of. At a minimum I hope Beckwith and Ford return. I surprisingly noticed that Beckwith did not get drafted by the MLL so maybe he is returning.

Is there any info out there about any of FF class of 2020 seniors returning to FF to complete their last year of eligibility from the cancelled 2020 spring season? Hearing most of the class is set to return... With the added transfers, we should be a very solid team. Moving posts here to discuss potential returning seniors. If Beckwith, Ford and Tymon return and you add the 2 transfers to the mix, the upcoming 2021 season could be special. I felt they had a chance of winning the CAA in 2020 and we would be even stronger. Beckwith, Ford and Tymon are all at the Dolan School of Business so hopefully they stick around to get their MBAs.

Stagophile if all true as you are hearing then the Stags will be a very solid team. Throw in the two very good transfers and Brady Strough a four star recruit midfielder and brother of Taylor Strough and and u may have something very special next spring. Go Stags!

Boom! I am hearing Dylan Beckwith, Travis Ford and Jake Tymon are returning for one more shot at glory. The 2021 team is loaded with talent and the potential to bring the program to new heights. Coach Baxter in a zoom call today confirmed all three will return for a fifth year as stags. Coach indicated that essentially the entire offense returns. The stags have a good chance of being very good team in 2021 if the defense can be shored up with the return of Tymon and the fifth year defense transfers.
