Hello everyone, my name is Kyle and I host the show. I just wanted to say thanks for the compliments and criticism. It is very cool to have an audience. My friend and I have been doing radio for three years now. I'm the station manager at WVOF and I wanted to create this show mainly with the goal of growing student engagement with Fairfield sports, specifically basketball. I work for Fairfield athletics too so I've been at pretty much every game for the past two years and it is my dream, as i'm sure everyone here can relate, to have Fairfield have a serious student section again and a better environment. So that is the main reason why I created this show. I am very happy that we have an audience and I apologize for some of my lack of Fairfield basketball history and knowledge. We hope to improve every week for you guys. If there are any questions, segments, or interviews you would like to see please just drop them in here and we will try to make it happen.
Finally, I reached out to Tyler Nelson last night and he got back to me. He said he would love to be on the show, so we are working it out right now but you could expect him to be on for an interview either this week or next week. So please give me some questions to ask him. I'm only a junior at Fairfield so you guys would have some better questions than me.
It is a little difficult to produce good content right now with no games or practices, but we are trying our best and we know once the season starts the content will improve greatly. Go stags.

Kyle TY for posting. I am looking forward to your live show next Wed. Here is a question for you. Based on ur last episode #3 , it appears that you and you radio show mate think that Jake Wojcik will be eligible to play staring with the beginning of the 20/21 season? Can u confirm that? I think most of the members on this board believe he must sit out one year because he is a transfe? Also is there a more direct way to send questions to the show? Perhaps email, text or tel #?

Kyle, great to hear from you, and keep up the good work.
As far as a question for Tyler, I would love to know if he is getting close to knowing where he will be playing this coming season with so much uncertainty around the world.
For other interviews, why not get right to the top. Let's get Jay Young on to give the fans an update on anything important with the team and his best guess on how things might play out with the schedule given the limitations imposed by the pandemic. For instance we think the Stags might (and I accentuate might) be playing both Sacred Heart and Stony Brook in a 2 day event out on LI. So if that's true, any other OOC games on tap? Oh and one other thing with Jay, and I think this is important. Given the shutting down of all practicing for a least a couple of weeks, how will that in his opinion affect the competitive balance with other teams who may not have had to do the same thing?
Another suggestion for you might be that you get either Bob Huessler or Joe Desantis (or both) to come on for a session. They're both great guys and I'm sure they would welcome the opportunity to talk a little Stag basketball, especially since their own schedule of describing games is probably at this moment very much unknown.

I believe we had it wrong. I assume you all know better than we do and Jake does have to sit out. We were a little confused cause our source told us Crisler had to sit but didn't mention Jake. Also, you could DM us questions on twitter @redsearadio or if you'd like you can send to my email kyle.majowicz@student.fairfield.edu thanks!

We are going to have Tyler on this Wednesday at 1. I will ask him your question. I am working hard to try and get Jay Young on soon. I emailed Fairfield basketball a few weeks ago and didn't get a response. However, I work for Fairfield athletics so I am trying to get some of my bosses to help me get the interview. Jay Young would be the interview I would be most interested in doing but I understand he is busy with the upcoming season and everything going on so I am unsure if he will be able to join us.
-Transfers are more and more common in college basketball. MAAC has certainly seen its share - even some of his teammates. Did he ever consider a transfer to a high major conference? What are some of his thoughts about why he chose to stay at Fairfield?
-Kind of a random question but... inquiring minds want to know: Nelson came off the bench in his first 3 games, then started every other game the rest of his Fairfield career... except one - his junior year at Monmouth. Does he remember what was going on there?
-How has he been affected by Covid-19? We're all pretty familiar with how things have gone in the NBA - but how did it go down in the G League? You can tie this into how things have gone in his first 2 years of pro ball. What's next? Etc..
Interestingly if I am reading it correctly, on his website, Jeff Goodman has Jake Wojcik listed as having his transfer still pending for eligibility this year.

Thank you those are some good questions. I will definitely add those to the list.

Source, I think I read the same as you! I wonder what would be the basis to “wave” the transfer rule? Also, does anyone know if “ run off” next to a transfers name mean the player was forced out by the school?( scholarship not renewed)

Don't know for sure, but I think the term "run off" is exactly what you are implying. An example on this list is someone we know a bit about in Peter Kiss from Rutgers to Bryant, a player who was basically benched all year but who was apparently healthy. Maybe it's a guess by the author (Goodman) though and not necessarily fact in at least a few cases.
As far as the transfer rule and the way it is being administered this year, well all I can say is that because a large majority of these cases are being accepted if a program and the kid wants it, being rejected to play immediately seems quite unfair to the few that are turned down. Just look at the disparity in the numbers in this report. How does that affect Wojcik if as implied by the report that his case is "pending"? Seems to me that maybe there's a good chance that we will be seeing him playing in a Stag uniform this season. And that could only make the team better right now.

Since this apparently will be a shortened season, thanks to Covid, maybe it's best if Jake does sit it out and retain that full year of eligibility when things (hopefully) get back to normal and we have regular basketball seasons again. Also, I'm wondering, on the chance that this unpredictable virus wipes out the entire upcoming season, would it still count as the sitout year for transfers? So much to contemplate.
I don't think the "run off" designation is always pejorative. I think sometimes the coach and player agree that the player is being "run off" to allow for immediate eligibility.
I'd like to see Wojcik eligible immediately. You'd start to have an interesting team.

Yeah indeed, so much unknown means decisions are tough, that's for sure. As far as Jake is concerned, obviously it's a personal decision to even try for the exemption, but at least from afar, getting an extra year of education, learning a system plus (probably) insuring a normal season next year seems like the best option if I were him. But it would he and his family's decision and not ours. Therefore whatever happens is fine with me.
