Kyle and Jack did a great job on 2 topics that are important to Stags Basketball.
The Three Man Weave pointed out some of the top reasons that can improve our Offense 1. We now have a true PG in Caleb Green 2. We are bringing is a top shooter in Jalen Leach 3. We are adding a Multi-talented Offensive Player in Cheff Ngalkulindo
And with all this good news, Why are we still no better than 9th??
We are losing Landon Taliaferro, who was a very good shooter. However, he did not shoot well from 3-pointers for the Majority of last Season.... 29.9% if you don't count the Texas A&M game

3-man Weave predicts we have no one among the 15 All-MAAC predicted players this year. In fairness to 3-man Weave, we don't have any proven All-MAAC players. We have guys with that potential, but one or more need to step up and play like All-MAAC players this year.

In order to be successful in the MAAC the stags must recruit at least one all MAAC player each and every year. FF has not been able to accomplish this consistently and that is why the stags are a lower tier team. Will that change under the Jay Young regime? I hope so , but the jury is still out on this one.
In addition to recruiting an All MAAC player each year, we need to recruit a top flight guard each year that has multi-talented skills. Guards are what wins in the MAAC

That's why there's currently a lot riding on the performances of some of our new guards who we haven't watched yet in Green, Leach and (hopefully) Wojcik this year, plus Cevis starting next season. If they are good then the Stags will be good. If they aren't they won't be good. It's that simple.
Just listened to the 3rd episode. Big improvement over the first two episodes. Wednesday 1pm is the next Stag Radio Live. Dont know if their info is accurate on Wojcyk and Cristler being eligible, but in this day and age they could have some good inside info. They seem to want to provide the latest info....... going after inside info from their "Insider".
They both feel that Caleb Green could be our leading scorer at 14ppg...... And will be Teams top play maker and best player. That would help Benning. I dont see Caleb Green as our top scorer, but if he can do the "Other Things", that would be great. This coming Wednesday, they will give us some feedback on the frosh. I will be interested where Jalen Leach fits in since he averaged 24ppg in prep school and had a high of 44 points in a single game
BTW speaking of leading scorers, although it was only at 12 PPG (obviously scoring by "committee" there), it's great to hear the report concerning Taliaferro, our leading scorer a year ago, having such a fantastic opening game as a pro. 36 points and NINE of TEN from 3. Wow! Can't ask for much more than that. Quite frankly I hadn't realized Americans could be playing oversees right now. But since that thought is obviously incorrect, I'm glad Landon has started off on the right foot in his new adventure.
I dove into the depths of the Luxembourg pro league. Not for the faint of heart.
Google translated the league site to English and there are HD video/stats for most of the games.
Great to hear from JY. One nugget from the interview - I thought his reaction to Taj and Jesus being eligible for next year was interesting. Unsolicited - he seemed to want them back.
One topic that wasn't hit - but I'm getting very curious about is the eligibility of Crisler and Wojcik. I've noticed other MAAC teams are getting approvals for transfers that appear to have no special circumstances and would normally have been sitting for 20-21. Given that this season doesn't count for eligibility - I can't see why the NCAA would keep guys on the bench, if everything else (academics) is in order.
Any inside info?

No Inside info on the eligibility of Crisler and Wojcik. Tomorrow is the Virtual Rountable. I will try to get that question on the agenda. Here are some quick tidbits from Jay Young on Red Sea Radio:
- Jay Young recruiting strategy .... Thing Longterm, don't rush or Rush and make mistakes. We need more answers offensively
- MAAC has a lot of good coaches and guard play is really good
- 2 best wins last year was Texas A&M (obvious) and Oakland Where stags played we'll down the stretch.
- things to address in off Season..... obvious the offense, last year we played slow, play faster will result in easier shots.
- Caleb Green leads by example, leader, makes teammates better
- Cheff needs to be the best athlete every time out. JY would be surprised if Cheff is not the best rebounder in the MAAC
- Maidoh has put on 20 lbs and has gotten stronger. the Picture on the Rosters page is accurate
- Allen Jeanne-Rose will have improved defense and will take it to the hoop. JY says he will let AJR play thru mistakes
- Jalen Leach is Talented, has been well coached and can score all different ways. No Mention of other Frosh
- Benning and Cruz are both warriers. expectations is to compete every day.
- 6 OOC games, starting Nov 25, stay off planes, OOC schedule is still in progress for us and all other schools
- Rick Pitino is great for the league. MAAC is wide open, Siena is very strong.
- New arena is a game changer
- Jay Young recruiting strategy is a Radius of 300 miles around Fairfield

I think one of the key points that you have highlighted above concerns Maidoh and the fact that he has put on 20 lbs., something that should indeed help him to become much stronger. Surely that must be a main reason why Jay suggested in this interview that Chris has the potential to be a special player at Fairfield by the time his career is finished. And in line with the way he was used last season regarding how he was often pulled pretty quickly off the court even though he might have been playing well (sometimes criticized by fans), his explanation was that because of his build, sometimes he had trouble being out there for extended minutes at a time, something the coach suggested should be much less of a problem this season. A dominant Chris Maidoh in the middle could make a HUGE difference for the Stags!
On another point, concerning Chef and rebounding, actually I think Jay specified that it was OFFENSIVE boarding in which he should be the best in the league, something hugely important based on the scoring possibilities he would have when he secures the ball near the basket. I like that thought.
Finally, regarding recruiting, the connections Jay mentioned he has with the New England prep school programs is an enormous asset that should pay off now and in the future. Already of course he has acquired Green, Chef, Leach and Kelly from these situations. Some of the best talent in the country is right in our backyard and I'm glad our head coach, all our coaches actually, have great connections in that area.
JY mentioned a connection in Florida and Fairfield looking at players down there because it isn't as heavily recruited(?). By the looks of AJR and Willis we're talking about the Tallahassee area.
Hey everyone, is there any questions or topics you would like us to talk about Wednesday on the show? We have a few things to talk about but would love some extra material. Thanks.
