I don't know if it's legal or possible, but if you were to sneak into a practice any impressions would be great.
If you happen to get more interviews, it would be fun to hear what Chris Maidoh and AJR thought about their first season and what they've done to get ready for this year and beyond.
Hey everyone, is there any questions or topics you would like us to talk about Wednesday on the show? We have a few things to talk about but would love some extra material. Thanks.
Well first of all Kyle, while it's only been about a month or so since we were even aware of what you guys have been doing, I think you can see from some of our responses that we as a group are longtime passionate fans of the program who really care about the team. Therefore what you and Jack have been putting out there from your radio program or podcast (or whatever you want to call it) is certainly a revelation, especially given this time of total uncertainty where access of information is hard to find. So THANK YOU. And BTW, I think I can speak for all the others in saying that I hope you will continue to make sure each show is posted on this site. Sometimes it's hard to be available to listen in to 88.5 right at 1PM every Wednesday.
Anyway, a question or two. Well for one thing since the last time we connected to Jay Young which happened to be last Thursday night in a 'zoom' meeting, it was uncertain whether Wojcik and Crisler would become eligible to play immediately this coming season. Since then though at least one report has come out that suggests they WILL NOT be in that category. I guess the question (or really more of a discussion) should be about the ramifications of that decision to the Stags, particularly concerning the back court which now might be a little thin in the depth department. (Maybe you could even get some feedback from Jay before you go on the air). Another talking point might be, given this problem, could the nature of the defense (IE tight pressure all the time) be somewhat affected in order to not get important players such as Caleb, Taj, Chef Cruz, etc. into foul trouble?
Anyway, we'll be tuned in (either live or to the posting). So keep up the good work!

Nice interview of Jay Young by CT Scoreboard Podcast. We got similar info from Red Sea Radio. AJR seems to be an inch taller and puts him at 6-8. If we see Cheff and Allan Jeanne-Rose on the court at 6-7 and 6-8...... then it could be the most athletic combo that we have seen at Fairfield in a while. And when you add Maidoh to that group ..... thats a nice threesome. Supreme Cook and Adokpaki adds even more Athleticism that play above the rim. Our interior defense should continue to be strong.
I can't remember the specifics, but I do think I remember reading that AJR had sprouted up a bit in the past couple of years... maybe going from 6'2" to 6'5" to 6'7". There were times, last season, when he had the look of a kid just getting used to his length.

Well there's no doubt that the athleticism of the team has dramatically improved from the rosters of the Sydney Johnson regime. Not saying they're at that level, but it's starting to look more like a squad that a typical Rider team might put out on the court capable of competing with the best the MAAC has to offer, at least in that specific area of the game. Pretty sure it is not there yet, but give me the skill of a Tyler Nelson, a Ferron Flavors, maybe a Jerry Johnson or even a Marcus Gilbert (combo skill and athleticism with him), in other words the best of Sydney with the best of Jay Young, and then you would REALLY have something to crow about. I would like to think that down the road, that type of combination of players will be a reality.
BTW JS, although I know you may not totally agree with the way he put it in this interview, he did characterize the position of AJ Rose as a "wing-forward," for whatever that's worth. But surely that doesn't mean AJ can't be used in some line-ups as kind of a power forward (which I know you desire).

Nash, your right, Jay Young really thinks AJR as a "Wing-Forward". And while some of that might be true when AJR is on defense, his Offensive stats don't bear that out at all.... 13 assists and 31 Turnovers is not 3rd-Guard-like and shooting 2 for 25 (8%) from the arc is not guard-like either.
While I did not show JY those stats, I was very positive pointing out AJR's positives from the 4 position. We will see.
Hi everyone, if you have questions or topics you want us to cover on tomorrow's show let me know. I'm still waiting to hear from Fairfield on an interview so we might be able to get that for next week. Thanks.

Just heard your latest show. Fun to listen to. I do have a suggestion for similar future shows where you don't have an interview on tap. If it's possible, open up a phone line for callers. You never know, you might get a couple. Certainly that would help you fill some time. This wouldn't be unprecedented at WVOF BTW. About 25 years ago we had a student who was very much in tune with Stag basketball, had a show on the station, and did the very thing I am suggesting. And that in itself enhanced the product he was putting out there.

Yes we still have the phone line up and working and if anyone would like to call in during future shows, the number is 203-254-4111. We would gladly accept callers in future shows!
