Midfielder Matt McGlinchey was selected to the 2020-21 Preseason All-MAAC Men's Soccer Team, one of 10 student-athletes chosen for the honor. The conference also announced its annual preseason coaches' poll which placed the Stags in a tie for sixth place with Rider University.
McGlinchey begins his fourth season with the program after serving as a starter for the previous three campaigns. Conference awards are nothing new for the senior as he received All-MAAC accolades as a freshman (second team), a sophomore (first team), and a junior (second team). He was also tabbed for the MAAC All-Rookie team in 2017.
The Stags, under Head Coach Carl Rees, will play seven games against MAAC opponents during the 2020-21 season. Fairfield opens the season on the road, traveling to Canisius College on March 11. The Stags play the first of their three home games on March 18 when they welcome Quinnipiac University. The team will also host Marist College on March 28 and Manhattan College on April 5.
