Based solely on the rpi listing, I'd have thought BC would play Temple first and our first game would be with UMass. I guess there's some other factor that goes into making the pairings, but I don't follow women's lacrosse enough to know what that might be.
From the link to the NCAA women's lacrosse rpi rankings: 12. UMass 14. Fairfield 18. Temple

A rather fascinating piece of information in our athletic department's article on the upcoming tourney game with BC: . ..Fairfield and Boston College have played nine times in program history – all between 2000 and 2009 – with the Eagles holding a 9-2 advantage in the series. The Stags won the last two meetings between the squads – 14-12 in Fairfield in 2008 and 19-12 in a neutral-site clash in West Palm Beach in 2009...fairfieldstags.com/news/2021/5/9/womens-lacrosse-maac-champion-stags-draw-4-boston-college-in-ncaa-first-round.aspxSomehow there's been eleven results from the nine times we've played BC in the history of our women's lacrosse program. I'm willing to bet '73 posts the correct information on this board before the athletic department corrects the math in their article.

‘73 did you notify someone in the athletic dept. of the correct information because I checked the article and now the information matches your post?

Nope. Not me. Fairfield and Boston College have played nine times in program history – all between 2000 and 2009 – with the Eagles holding a 7-2 advantage in the series. The Stags won the last two meetings between the squads – 14-12 in Fairfield in 2008 and 19-12 in a neutral-site clash in West Palm Beach in 2009.

‘73 did you notify someone in the athletic dept. of the correct information because I checked the article and now the information matches your post? ‘76 It appears like someone in FU athletics woke up from their regular deep slumber and caught the error! Or did someone other than ‘73 on this board wake them up to a rather glaring misstatement in their article on the upcoming NCAA tourney game with BC? I’ll never know the answer to that but I prefer to focus on the women’s upcoming game and hope we’re able to pull off the upset. I always want us to do well in a national tourney, regardless of the sport.

Today's game marked the fifth NCAA postseason appearance in program history. Diana DeVita, Meaghan Graham and Kelly Horning each net a goal in the second half as the Stags wrap up their third straight MAAC Championship season at #4 Boston College in the NCAA Championship First Round. "We can be very proud of our effort today," said Head Coach Laura Field. "The final score is tough, but we when watch this film in a couple of weeks, we're going to see good fight and good effort for 60 minutes. While we're very proud of this season, I also know that we aren't satisfied; we want to take this experience, learn from it and make the most of the opportunity when we're able to play on this stage again." "I'm incredibly proud of our seniors," Field continued. "I can't say enough about this class – three MAAC Championships and three NCAA appearances is quite the statement as to what they mean to our program."

Tomorrow, BC will play Syracuse at noon in the championship game. I’m hoping BC wins so we can “claim” that the “only” reason we lost in the tourney was because we had to play the best women’s lacrosse team in our first game.
