The Stags strike back as Ryan and Guerrera go back to back -- 5-3, top six.

74, I was just going to write. I talked to Zach last week, he told me tbe same thing, and I am currently sitting at the game CT Bob could the people who run the athletic dept. at FF be any bigger bunch of DICK HEADS! You would think they would have communicated that the MAAC tournament was open to the public. I would have loved to go to a game today and see the baseball team play in person.

Not having the Attendance Announcement on the Stag website and their social media sites is pathetic especially as our local alumni and Stag fans needed to know in this historic season of Stag Baseball. No excuse and another example of more communication issues. Sad that nobody in the Athletic Department knew what to do about it and '74 has every right to be pissed along with anyone else that would have been there to cheer on the Stags. Will there be any attendance announcement for the next round and will whomever "dropped the ball" this time get it right?

Stags 8-5 and win their Quarterfinal doubleheader against Manhattan and advance to the Championship Round on Wednesday, May 26 at 11:00 am at Alumni Baseball Diamond against the lowest surviving seed.
Fairfield Stags @fairfieldstags
Career win #️⃣2️⃣2️⃣ for John Signore is a new @stags_Base record!
#WeAreStags #StagsCompete #MAACBaseball 🤘⚾
"We just showed resiliency to keep at it," MAAC Coach of the Year Bill Currier said. "Their pitchers threw very well for a length of time and we weren't recognizing some pitches at the plate and chased some out of the zone. But we got better as the day went on. Some guys stepped up with (Mike) Becchetti's go-ahead homer in the first game and then Danny Ryan and Justin (Guerrera's) back-to-back homers in the second game."

35-1. Nice way for Signore to break the Fairfield career-wins record. Manhattan came to play, but the Stags always find a way. However, Fairfield will have to play much better next week if they expect to advance. I think they will.
I, too, am surprised there was no official announcement on attendance policy. I would've gone to the games had I known sooner than last night. Just a missed opportunity for everyone involved, a head-scratching mistake. And it seems as if the school made a conscious decision to tamp down crowd size -- if people asked if they could go, tell them yes; otherwise, don't make it public.
In any case, I will be there for every pitch next week.
Go Stags.

Our Athletic Department communications is consistently awful. The baseball teams success should be hyped and it’s not. Do something.

Too close to relax in both of these games, and thank god Manhattan isn't always the best at handling pop flies. But anyway like you say, the Stags seem to always find a way. But yes they certainly will need to be sharper next week, particularly in the hitting department if they want to reach their goals. See you there next week Jennings. Go Stags!

74, just seeing your reply. I agree they really dropped the ball. I am happy I called last week. Stayed the whole 18 innings, lot of fun. See you there on Wednesday.

Here's a recap of yesterday's action:
Fairfield (1) sweeps Manhattan (8) Monmouth (2) vs. Siena (7) starts today Rider (3) sweeps Niagara (6) Canisius (4) splits two with Marist (5); Game 3 at noon today
The Stags will likely play the winner of the 4-5 game. Marist is the "mystery" team in that we haven't seen them yet. Picked as preseason No. 2, the Foxes got derailed by COVID, not playing their first game until April 17. They finished 17-9 and look to be legitimately good. Marist could well be our most dangerous opponent if they get through. But dangerous is a relative term. As Rorschach said in the prison scene of the Watchmen movie, "You don't seem to understand. I'm not locked in here with you. You're locked in here with me!" So it is for the three schools that will venture into the Stagdome next week.

So it is for the three schools that will venture into the Stagdome next week. D-1 Baseball website had an article this week stating that Monmouth is a legitimate and dangerous team that very well could be a tough one to beat for the Stags or anyone else in the tournament (for what it's worth). Interesting then if somehow Siena were to defeat the Hawks, the Stags would be competing against the only squad to defeat them this season. Anyway whatever, it seemed like the team was a little tight yesterday and in some ways were very lucky to come out on top in both games against Manhattan. Maybe it's good they were able to get rid of some of the nervousness and pressure of playing in close games and will be ready to get back to a more dominating nature starting Wednesday. In a double-elimination format winning the first game is HUGE. The odds go way down for winning the whole thing if you don't take game #1. I will be keeping an eye on the action at Monmouth today.

And now as I check the action going on today, Siena defeats Monmouth in the first game 13-5. Also, in the 7th, Canisius leads Marist 7-6.

Marist is done. Canisius wins, 10-7.
In Game 2, Monmouth dominates Siena 14-2. Game 3 is noon Saturday.
At the risk of unleashing the "be careful what you wish for" curse, I wish for Siena to win tomorrow. I would love to avenge the loss.
