Our baseball program record in our history in regional play is 0-3. I’d love to see that zero replaced with a one with a win today.

Continuing a conversation from last night, both Virginia & Maryland (both #3 seeds playing for their seasons vs 4 seeds), are throwing their #2 pitcher today. We have to win today & can't yet worry about tomorrow. No question IMHO Noviello will start.

FWIW - although Southern doesn't really have any pitchers with notably great (or good) stats, it does look like they probably anticipated the loss vs. Texas and saved their best for game #2.
I can't seem to find any info about starters for today's game.

Ah. The Southern pitcher has 10 games started with a 6.80 ERA. They have another guy that has a bit better numbers - but you never know the circumstances.

Looks like rain until 6pm in Austin. Would they postpone game until tomorrow?

I still can't believe they called that a HBP last night. I am not over that.

I still can't believe they called that a HBP last night. I am not over that. I thought the replay was inconclusive. Even in the frame-by-frame you couldn't tell. There was frame just before the ball hit and one just after when it was deflecting down. I certainly don't think it caught him flush on the wrist - but it could've hit the meaty part of his right hand and maybe a piece of the bat, at the same time. Not enough to overrule the decision on the field from what I saw. I was confused about the play at first - that looked like a pretty clear missed call on one of the replay angles. Who knows how future events would've played out - but I didn't understand the ruling. Did they not check replay, or did they decide there wasn't enough evidence? Another tidbit from the game... I know it's a small thing and certainly not calling it an error by the outfielder - but did anyone else think that if the final throw to the plate had been on target - Fairfield could've had a force play? It looked like the ASU runner on 3rd got a bad read on the ball and a late start towards home. I checked the replay and the Fairfield catcher had the ball in his glove while the ASU runner was in his dive still a few feet away from home. * humblebrag - I once forced someone out at home from RF on a similar play... by quite a bit actually. In that case - I think the runner just lost track of the ball in a setting sun.
