Was wondering the same thing. The boys will be playing on fumes. Let's hope the adrenaline overload kicks in.

To be honest, this is house money. Texas is #2 in the nation for a reason. I think it would be a monumental upset if we beat Texas with our depleted pitching staff. Just go out & have fun.

Just have to try and patch together innings. They should have enough arms - but a few unheralded guys are going to need to get some (a lot of) big outs.
* I would imagine (maybe) they could get some outs from McLoughlin, tomorrow.

Are we really playing Texas on the same day we beat ARS? Yes RM, it's an extremely tough task. But that's the way it has always been with this tournament where the team that wins their first two games has an extreme advantage. And when you consider the Stags would have to come right back tomorrow and beat them again to advance to the Super-Regional next week if they were fortunate enough to win tonight, well you can see the odds aren't good. But as long as they are out there competing, who knows what will happen? If nothing else this team has shown that they don't give up, and that's something they and we as fans should all feel great about!

An example off the top of my head (with similar underdog vibes) is when Tennessee Tech knocked off Ole Miss twice in a row in 2017 to advance.

Tough road the rest of the way, but they have already accomplished a tremendous amount. As someone said, they are playing with house money at this point. I expect that, in addition to playing #2 Texas, the stadium will be filled with Longhorn fans (and our little Stag contingent!) Might be like playing Duke at Cameron Indoor. I'm guessing it will be a lot different than any game they have ever played before.

Oh. This should be a scene. Texas takes their baseball seriously and they pre-game hard.

Finally a Stag team that wins a big one on the big stage.
Showing they truly belong. I held my breath the whole game.
Congrats to the guys. And imagine doing this without Caruso. Everybody stepped up.

Great, great win over a powerhouse, blueblood PAC-12 program.
That's TWO tournament wins when we never even had one before this year.
7,000 crazy, loud Texas fans in their own building.
Time to play loose and smart and enjoy the environment.
They have earned the right to enjoy one more game.
Stags UP!

The Stags become the second MAAC school ever to play for the Regional title. The Stags will have to beat the Longhorns twice to advance to the Super Regionals. "I think it justifies what we did this year," Head Coach Bill Currier said. "Our record was only against teams in conference and sometimes wasn't on the ears of the bigger schools they said we could never compete with. I feel like we had the justification of the year we had and the type of team that we are. And that's an important thing to see on a national stage."
Michael Sansone earned the win after tossing three shutout innings, pitching into the ninth before giving the ball to Signore in relief. Sansone's winning effort was a bounce back effort after he earned the loss against the same Arizona State team on Friday. "I wanted to throw today more than I ever wanted to throw in my life," Sansone said. "That first game was very heartbreaking for myself but I knew I was going to get another chance and I figured it would be against them. When we got into that position and he sent me down I was ready and I wanted to do that more than anything in the world."
Guerrera crushed the first pitch he saw over the left center field wall, a three-run shot to give the Stags a 9-7 lead. "Rounding the bases I kind of blacked out and didn't grasp the importance of the situation until I crossed home plate," Guerrera said. "It was great getting to celebrate with everyone and holding that lead for the rest of the game."

Everybody stepped up. Yeah without Caruso, and it's got to be killing him that he can't be there. But OTOH look at the job that Venuto has done behind the plate in his place. Great, great job in handling all the pitchers (although the calls appeared to be from the dugout) plus catching and framing pitches well. And that's on top of the fact that he has had a great weekend hitting the ball and surely as a sophomore looks like he will keep the team in a good spot at the catcher position. So where we were worried (I know I was) when the MAAC POY went down, apparently Bill Currier and the rest of the team knew all along that the guy replacing him would do more than an adequate job.

And to further emphasize the job that Venuto did in the tournament, he along with Mike Handal were named to the all-regional team!
