Good to see Tyler involved in this. And he will have a least two teammates that should be of interest to local hoop fans. Brandon Sherrod, former star at Stratford High School and then later a main part of an outstanding Yale team that upset Baylor in the NCAA Tournament is listed on the roster. And so is a former player at Staples named John DiBartolomeo who became the National D-111 POY at Rochester a few years ago. I always loved his game, but his small size kept him from being a real D-1 recruit at the time. Looks like he has really excelled in the years after leaving the Wreckers though. Anyway, I'm looking forward to watching Tyler and the rest of his team compete in this tournament in what has become an almost must watch for people who care about the game.
A first-year TBT entrant, The Nerd Team includes “players from some of the top academic institutions who value the academic rigor while excelling on the court and in the community”. Early additions to their roster include decorated European veteran John DiBartolomeo (Rochester), and former Ivy League standouts Kyle Casey (Harvard) and Brandon Sherrod (Yale).
Brackets have been released for TBT. TNT (The Nerd Team), the team Tyler is on, opens against a team of University of Buffalo alumni. No mention of Tyler in espn's short writeup of each team in the tournament.

It looks like Tyler's team is scheduled to play the UB squad on Saturday, July 24th at 6:00PM in Columbus, Ohio. No word on any TV possibility, although I imagine since ESPN is the main carrier, something like ESPN3 or ESPN+ might be involved. The first half of the field will be competing next weekend BTW. I'm sure at least a couple of games among the 'name teams' will be televised on one of the over the air ESPN affiliates.

TNT finally ran out of gas in the end and lost 88-82. Tyler had a great game scoring 24 points on very efficient shooting. He made a couple of big plays to keep his team in contention near the end including a "3 and 1" play worth 4 points in a key spot. In the end though unfortunately he and the team which appeared to be a little short on bodies basically were running on fumes as the contest was being played out with the Elam Ending format. For some reason Brandon Sherrod who played at Stratford HS and Yale was not there (he was listed on the roster), and that hurt a lot I think considering the Nerds didn't get much production from their bench. But nevertheless it was a fun game to watch, especially since Tyler once again exhibited some of the great skills that made him such a favorite of Stag fans.
I watched most of the game live and the Nerds best player was Tyler Nelson. He has gotten stronger and can take it to the hoop. His defense is also better...... and if his defense improves, he might get a shot at the NBA
Kasibabu’s team, SCD Hoops, plays at 1:00pm today. I hope he plays as well as Tyler did yesterday but his team comes away with a W instead of a L. I agree with Nashville that TNT would’ve benefited by having Sherrod, or another player or two, available. TNT’s jump shots were way off at the end of the game and the announcers mentioned how all the players on the court looked tired.
