Let's get a thread going where we can highlight some of the top performances of our Fairfield Stags in summer ball leagues throughout the Northeast.
This evening Trey McLoughlin pitched 5 scoreless innings for the Falmouth Commodores and Mike Handal hit 2 home runs for the Albany Dutchmen.

I don't see Noviello on the Orleans roster. Hopefully not injured.
It's great news to see Sansone and McLoughlin having success. CCBL is no joke.

Yeah an injury to any player who has their big chance in this competition would be devastating. So I have the same thought as you in that regard. And you're right, any type of success in the CCBL is a BIG DEAL! So let's hope Michael and Trey continue their good pitching as the summer plays out.

He needs to relax or he's going to get drafted and the Stags won't have a #3 hitter.
He has a Pedroia "look" about him.

He's gone. No way he doesn't get drafted.

He's gone. No way he doesn't get drafted. Well certainly that would be possible, especially after what he has been doing so far this summer with Newport. But keep in mind that yes although he should get drafted, being picked in say the first ten rounds is a lot different than being picked in later ones, especially in relation to guaranteed bonus money. And as good as he has been in the power department with this summer team, I do have to say that the home ballpark he plays in is a complete bandbox with a left field that would make the Green Monster at Fenway Park look gargantuan in comparison. I know, because I have been there (when my nephew played in the league). Anyway this is not to take anything away from what Justin has been doing. But I am stating a reality which the pros might take into consideration when they are comparing everyone. So if he can get a great deal with a professional team, great for him! And if not and he returns to the Stags, that's great for the program. And actually if he is drafted highly the program benefits greatly too because of the notoriety they get from producing him. So in summary I think it's a win-win situation no matter what happens.

This year was magical. Next year could be even better. But if Justin, Trey, Mike or Jake get drafted in the early rounds and offered a lucrative signing bonus, I will be the first to wish them all the best! I think it's win-win situation. It would be further validation of the program and the next man up will get their opportunity. This team is loaded with talent top to bottom. Coach Currier and his staff know how to identify and develop talent.

Hopefully some of this success can rub off a little bit when our favorite hoops team takes the court this November. Anyway back to the baseball team and more particular the players you have listed above, it is interesting and perhaps ironic that unlike previous years when the MLB draft would be held in the first week of June, this year it will have been delayed well over a month, and that in itself could prove to be a HUGE benefit for our guys in particular. For if the draft had been held in its normal time slot, our special Stag players wouldn't have had the chance to show what they could do against some of the best competition in the country (other than in the three contests they played on a national stage against ASU and UT). But because of the way it has worked out, guys who have been performing well in the summer leagues are getting the chance to move their stock up based on the fact that the professional teams tend to have a lot of scouts at many of these games. So anyway, the draft will be happening this weekend I think and it will be interesting to see how things work out for our guys. Exciting time around here, that's for sure!

If Fairfield's baseball program progresses to the point where we're routinely "concerned" about a couple of guys getting drafted... each season... then I'd say the program is probably in a pretty good place!
Selfishly, I'd like to see all of these guys back and have Fairfield make another run at a national ranking and the NCAA tournament.

Day 1 of the draft is tonight. Twenty rounds total, with 612 selections. Which is half the number of 2019 (40 rounds, 1,217 selections).
Truth be told, I hope everyone comes back. But more power to Guerrera if he can cash in. I would think he's one of the top 612 players in the country, though I don't know for sure. I also don't know how far the contract money is spread out over the 20 rounds. At some point in the lower rounds, it might make more sense for him to return to Fairfield and try to improve his draft standing for 2022. Unless he simply chooses to pursue his dream with any team that picks him. Awful hard to turn down a chance to play Major League Baseball.
