Fairfield University Women's Golf has been named the Division I recipient of the Mark Laesch Award, as presented by the Women's Golf Coaches Association. The award recognizes the team that showed the most improvement based upon adjusted stroke average per individual per round from 2019-20 to 2020-21. Led by MAAC Women's Golf Coach of the Year Doug Holub, the Stags improved by 11.75 strokes per individual per round this past spring. The season culminated with a fourth place finish at the MAAC Championship – their best since 2015. Sydney Nethercott was Fairfield's top finisher at the conference-wide tournament, placing fifth overall to earn All-MAAC laurels. Holub was also the MAAC Men's Golf Coach of the Year after guiding the Stags to third place with three All-MAAC performers. Fairfield Women's Golf also won the WGCA Mark Laesch Award in 2018-19.
