they are 27th with 29 votes. UNLV is the other unranked above them.
I watched parts of several games this weekend and a good amount of ND vs. FLST. I'm not sure if Fairfield could beat those teams... it seemed like they were similar... but maybe just a little more athletic at each spot - but I'll say one thing about Fairfield. They play a completely different style than the teams I saw. So many of the teams would have a ball dominant guard dribble... dribble... dribble... then drive or maybe a quick pass or two would follow.
It would be fun to see if the Stags style would translate at the next tier without a bit more size.
I'd also like to see Janelle Brown matched up vs. Hidalgo.

No matter how many in a row they win, there's nowhere to go unless those teams above them drop a couple games.

I think there are plenty of losses ahead for the teams above Fairfield. Even Princeton has games against Harvard and Columbia to navigate. If they keep winning, it will come. Most important is for the Stags to stay focused and keep improving. There are better (than SPU) and hungry teams looming on the MAAC schedule.

It's starting to look more and more like this year's UCONN team will struggle to get beyond the Sweet 16. For a UCONN team to have their best victory be... a good Louisville team... is a far cry from the glory days. I wonder how much longer Geno will coach. I think Geno will coach as long as Geno wants to coach. And it doesn't appear as though he is getting ready to retire. Far from it actually as I imagine he would like to win at least one other championship before he is ready to hang it up. Regarding this season and the "slump" the Huskies are in (relative to other years), obviously the team has been, like the last couple of campaigns, hit with an unusual amount of injuries to some key players which has made being a favorite in the NCAA Tournament a stretch. But again my guess is he still has a few more years to see if he can regain his magic even if the Sweet 16 or something like that is the end of the road this time.

^ Auriemma was quoted last week saying that having the most career wins as a head coach has never been a goal of his. That’s interesting because he’s only 8 career wins behind the leader, Stanford’s Tara Vanderveer. He is a year younger than her.
Maybe there’s some other way to take his comment, but I thought he was signaling he wasn’t planning on coaching too much longer.

I am less concerned about making it into the Top 25 and more concerned about these two things:
1) Win the MAAC tourney. 2) Get a 12-seed or better. Seeds 13-16 end up playing 1-4 seeds on their home floor. It would be nice to get an opponent on a neutral court.
But at this point, they should be focusing on winning their next game. Play well every game, one game at a time.

No changes for the Stags in Top 25 released today. Stags still at 27. I expected them to move to 26 and for Oklahoma to drop off. But Oklahoma's loss to another top 25 team didn't seem to impact them. I don't know how Oklahoma is still in the top 25 with 7 losses. Frankly, given the schedule, its hard to see the Stags making the top 25 next week. Even if a top team were to fall UNLV remains ahead of Fairfield by many votes and is the next likely to move up. Here are the teams that need to lose for Fairfield to have a shot of advancing: 20 Louisville (21-6) Atlantic Coast Women 21 Creighton (21-3) 22 West Virginia (22-3) Big 12 Women 23 Oklahoma (18-7) Big 12 Women 24 Baylor (19-6) Big 12 Women 25 Princeton (20-3) Ivy Women
This weeks schedule - Games in Italics most likely to impact Stags chances to move up Monday's Games No. 13 LSU (21-4) at Texas A&M (17-7), 7 p.m. No. 14 Indiana (21-3) at Illinois (12-12), 2 p.m. No. 15 UConn (22-5) vs. No. 21 Creighton (21-3), Noon No. 19 Notre Dame (18-6) at Duke (16-8), 7 p.m. Tuesday's Games No. 23 Oklahoma (18-7) at Cincinnati (12-13), 6 p.m. Wednesday's Games No. 5 Texas (24-3) vs. Texas Tech (16-11), 8 p.m. No. 10 Kansas St. (22-4) vs. No. 22 West Virginia (22-3), 7:30 p.m. No. 24 Baylor (19-6) vs. Kansas (15-10), 8 p.m. Thursday's Games No. 1 South Carolina (25-0) vs. Alabama (20-7), 7 p.m. No. 2 Ohio St. (22-3) at Penn St. (16-10), 6 p.m. No. 4 Iowa (23-3) at No. 14 Indiana (21-3), 8 p.m. No. 6 NC State (23-3) at North Carolina (17-9), 8 p.m. No. 12 UCLA (20-5) vs. No. 18 Utah (19-7), 9:30 p.m. No. 13 LSU (21-4) vs. Auburn (16-9), 9 p.m. No. 16 Gonzaga (26-2) vs. San Francisco (11-14), 9 p.m. No. 17 Syracuse (22-4) vs. Duke (16-8), 7 p.m. No. 19 Notre Dame (18-6) vs. Clemson (11-15), 7 p.m. No. 20 Louisville (21-6) at Georgia Tech (15-12), 6 p.m. Friday's Games No. 3 Stanford (23-3) vs. Arizona (14-12), 10 p.m. No. 7 Southern Cal (20-4) vs. No. 11 Colorado (20-5), 10 p.m. No. 9 Oregon St. (21-4) at Washington St. (16-11), 10 p.m. Saturday's Games No. 5 Texas (24-3) at UCF (12-12), Noon No. 16 Gonzaga (26-2) at Pepperdine (5-21), 5 p.m. No. 21 Creighton (21-3) vs. Villanova (16-9), Noon No. 22 West Virginia (22-3) vs. No. 24 Baylor (19-6), 2 p.m. No. 23 Oklahoma (18-7) vs. Oklahoma St. (12-13), 2 p.m. No. 25 Princeton (20-3) at Columbia (18-5), 2 p.m. Sunday's Games No. 1 South Carolina (25-0) at Kentucky (10-16), 3 p.m. No. 2 Ohio St. (22-3) vs. Maryland (15-10), 2 p.m. No. 3 Stanford (23-3) vs. Arizona St. (11-15), 3 p.m. No. 4 Iowa (23-3) vs. Illinois (12-12), 1 p.m. No. 6 NC State (23-3) at Duke (16-8), 5:30 p.m. No. 7 Southern Cal (20-4) vs. No. 18 Utah (19-7), 3 p.m. No. 8 Virginia Tech (22-4) vs. North Carolina (17-9), 2 p.m. No. 9 Oregon St. (21-4) at Washington (13-12), 3 p.m. No. 10 Kansas St. (22-4) at Kansas (15-10), 2 p.m. No. 13 LSU (21-4) at Tennessee (16-9), Noon No. 15 UConn (22-5) at DePaul (12-16), 6 p.m. No. 17 Syracuse (22-4) vs. Pittsburgh (8-19), 2 p.m. No. 19 Notre Dame (18-6) at Boston College (11-16), Noon No. 20 Louisville (21-6) vs. Virginia (12-13), Noon

#21 Creighton lost to UConn by 20 today. Hopefully, Villanova beats Creighton on Saturday giving Creighton two losses for the week. As far as AP top 25, it would help us get more votes if we win convincingly instead of barely eking out a win. But I don’t want to get too consumed by making top 25, only things that truly matter are MAAC regular season title and winning the MAAC tournament.

The loss to UConn won't affect them much but a loss to Villanova would have a big impact. We just have to keep winning. Some people think that if South Carolina lost it would help the Stags as they would then have the longest winning streak in the country. I don't see SC losing, they are really good, and a unanimous number 1.

Auriemma with what I think is a tongue-in-cheek comment on our current win streak.

Not sure if this belongs here, but Charlie Creme bracketology as of Feb 20th shows Lady Stags as 13 seed vs 4 seed Syracuse in Syracuse. As a 4 seed Syracuse would get home court for 1st 2 rounds. Obviously this is a very fluid situation with a bunch of changes just over the weekend changing the previous predictions. And of course Fairfield would probably have to win MAAC tournament to get in.

Fairfield seems stuck on a 13 seed, and Creme has put us in five or six different locations in that time. I'd like to think we could drop to 12 (or lower) if we run the table. I just don't know.
Actually, Syracuse would be a good spot for Fairfield as a 12 seed. Play a 5 seed on a neutral court, then battle the Orange for a spot in the Sweet 16. Best of all, Syracuse is a reasonable drive for Stag fans who want to attend the games. Lots will happen between now and then, however.
