There was a little hesitation by the players recently injured. They weren’t going 100% probably out of fear of reinjury. Smith gave up a layup to dish to someone who had a much more difficult shot in traffic. Yetna contributed well on offense but he was out of position on a few defensive plays where Niagara was able to lob it over his head to Obioah for a layup. Goodine was hardly running and thus could not shake his defender. Floyd was more careless than usual. Bleechmore had a brain freeze on an inbounds. Nobody went in for a rebound when Leach was doing his trademark zigzag backing in for a shot. Valuable foul shots were missed. Too much was on Fields to pull out the win and he almost did. In summary, most of the Stags did less than they usually do.
In my opinion, what’s missing are the points in the paint. We have the guards to penetrate. We need to work on dishing off to the bigs who aren’t used to looking for those passes. But it could also be that adding Yetna has affected the old chemistry of knowing each others’ moves and tendencies. Maybe work him in more slowly and get Smith back to where he was contributing.
One last observation: our offense started to look like more one-on-one plays than passing to find an open man. That is the missing fluidity that people have mentioned.
Beating MSM will be a tall order, but a great confidence builder before Quinnipiac. How about an emphatic win!

Yetna was one rebound short of a double double last night, which is very encouraging given all the time he has missed. Yes, he is still getting used to establishing chemistry with his teammates, but it will come by the time March rolls around.
Very good point about the FF offense last night being more one on one , especially the guards and not moving the ball around with good passes. Niagara good defense in the passing lanes may have been the reason why. Need to move on and prepare for b MSM. There is a log jam at the 2nd through 5th place MAAC standings . If the stags fall into a mini- losing streak they could easily fall into the PIG round of the tournament. Win one game at a time, w/o expectations for the tournament seedlings and it will take care of itself. Go stags!
A costly loss last night for FF because the teams in the standings competing for a non pig spot all won last night. ( Niagara, Marist, Iona and St Pete’s)
Seriously. the floor girl cost us. Please train her on how to mop up a floor. Those 2 Stag slips and 3 turnovers in a row were momentum-killers.
As much as players on both teams repeatedly lost their footing on cuts, I don’t recall a single instance where the player who slipped pointed to moisture on the court as the reason for their fall. I’ve seen other games where once a player slipped, the player would motion to the refs where the moisture was and the refs would supervise the cleanup. I don’t recall one instance last night of a player who slipped who pointed to moisture on the floor as the reason he fell. Instead of the floor girl, I tend to think it was a combination of our not being in synch offensively due to Goodine and Peyton just getting back from their injuries plus Leach and Fields not being as effective as they usually are in finishing off in close to the basket as to the main reasons we lost last night. Part of that might be due to how Niagara defended Leach and Fields throughout the game.
Yeah don't blame the floor girl who I'm sure was just doing her job as she was trained to do. But your point is well-taken in regard to why the players, and really the refs too, didn't react and make sure the problem was fixed before resuming play. Certainly a serious injury could have happened to any one of them because of this situation. And why was this happening BTW considering to my knowledge it never had before in almost two years of action at the Mahoney Arena? Anyway in regards to the result of the game, both teams had to play on the same surface, so don't blame this loss on a slippery floor.

I was wondering the same thing as I couldn’t recall another game where so many players on both teams on both ends of the floor lost their footing on cuts.
A little curious why Casey called the timeout with Jasper racing up the floor with the floor spread. I believe there was like .14 seconds left. He usually just lets them play. I wish he did in this case as well. They are not as good a team with set plays off of time outs. Yetna hoisting the deep top of the key 3 did not seem like the best shot in that situation.

He was open and can make it. Time was short. If Yetna doesn't take that shot, there's no guarantee whatever the Stags could find in the next 5 seconds would've been better or might've not even got a shot off.

I didnt like the time out either. I think we would have scored without it Perhaps casey was concerned about giving niagara too much time to return upcourt. We will never know
