Last year Sam Federman created a Google document to track who’s entering the portal and where they transferred to. He added to the original document with which players transferred in to MAAC schools and also created a scholarship sheet so one could see how many scholarships each school still had available to offer; plus a sheet for OOC games for each school. He updated everything frequently. He has the document again this year and it will once again likely be a great resource to follow everything occurring in MAAC men’s basketball.
Last year with a coaching change, only one player who still had eligibility remaining (Shema) stayed at Iona. This offseason with no coaching change, every Iona player with remaining eligibility has entered the portal. Iona has 3 prep commitments so Anderson has 10 scholarships available.
The days of one mid-major team winning multiple regular season titles and winning multiple conference tournaments is OVER. The player turnover because of the portal will prevent any team from having consecutive good seasons. Each year will be a rebuild. So if FF ever gets to the big dance best to enjoy every minute because a repeat is very doubtful!

If you have more NIL money than the other schools in your conference and a good coach who knows how to put it to good use, you can do well year-after-year even with a lot of turnover.
Otieno and Tice have posted on Twitter that they’ll be returning to Quinnipiac next season. Doubt that the NCAA will do anything about Tice receiving offers without entering the portal, but years ago I’m sure a statement like that would’ve led to a NCAA investigation of the schools that offered him.
Federman’s Interest Page showing that we’ve expressed interest in Prophet Johnson of Southern Utah. He’s originally from Dayton and attended Bellevue Junior College in Washington. His stats last year aren’t overly impressive (19.4% on his 3s). Seems odd to me that he’s posting a highlight video, emphasizing he can shoot with either hand after being in the portal for around a month.

It may be advantageous to have an open spot late in the summer. Once most schools’ rosters are filled there will surely be some prime players who are left without a home.
